| Dance Gavin Dance – Honey Revenge Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This song seems to obviously be about rape. But, the band seems to have written it from the viewpoint of the rapist rather than the victim or a bystander as we mostly are just hearing about cases. The lyrics seem to be written as if they were in the mind of a compulsive and obsessive rapist who is so deranged and infatuated with someone, he ends up abusing them. The first verse shows his obsession with the victim- from watching them sleep to every move they make, and comparing life without them as suicide. The second verse shows his intentions for the victim- exploring his sickest urges including the use of rope and wine. The song sounds absolutely great, although it's surprisingly dark lyrically. |

toowens has the correct lyrics up there ^ But yeah, I think this song is clever. For essentially writing a song partly about Adam and Eve fucking, blink did it so well. haha I like how the original title of this song was "Genesis," as in The Book of Genesis. I'm not extremely familiar with the story of Adam and Eve, but I believe it was satan who disguised himself as a snake and convinced the two to sin and eat the forbidden fruit. So I think 'Snake Charmer' is an obvious reference to that, and, what at least I like to think, somewhat a sexual pun as well. |

When asked what the metaphor means on Tumblr, Mark responded: "living with fear or oppression. i was driving home from the studio and a helicopter flew overhead, and by chance its shadow crossed right in front of me. i thought of people whose life everyday is spent with these shadows circling." |

I hear "I felt a starter and a waiver" "she creeps UP like a spider" and "a twisted little show." It's a good chance that he says "when EVE was on Adam's mind." This song is awesome, so catchy. Awesome backing music during the verses. And Tom's extra tom-y voice. haha I think this song is clever, obviously about sex. Good girls are not so innocent when it comes to it, and it's been like that since the beginning. Great name, "Snake Charmer" haha |

I think it's "and stuck in deadly rhythm" I love this song, the double vocals sound so sweet. Mark and Tom's counter voices harmonize interestingly. It's chilling. very cool :] |

adding one more comment to this trail once again, haha ...but I'm listening to the commentary right now and Adam actually talks through a few of the lyrics and he -does- in fact say; "Lord knows it takes a lot of medicine to keep this pace. I'd never thought it'd be so easy to manipulate oh, house of horrors, house of ours you resent me like your father...." :] |

| Yeah, most of my changes were pure guesses. Definitely 2nd guessing 'house of horrors,' my corrections were mostly wrong I'm sure, but Adam talks about the 'resent me like your father' line in the commentary at least. | |

I can't stop listening to this song, would've been great on the album. The 'not going anywhere' line was used greatly in Faith, at least. This song seems so raw and honest, I just can't make out every line. Nicely done on the lyric guesses. I can suggest a few changes though; I would guess the 2nd line 'I never thought that you would buy it, put it on display.' second part of that verse sounds off, I can't make out what it is though. I think the first line of the 2nd verse is "Lord knows it takes a lot of medicine to keep this pace" then it goes onto may 'House of horrors, house of ours'? "You -resent- me like your father." and sharing -our- last name. Then the bridge/third verse whatever. I think it's more along the lines of "starin' with that smug look on your face..." and "can't recognize my own face" that's just my opinions of what I hear :) good job deciphering what else Adam was saying. I really can't get enough of the song. I love the 2nd verse, something like: "...you resent me like your father oh I can't get enough, and you can't take it any longer despite the smile and pain of sharing our last name I'll stay, you'll change." so good. powerful. I gonna go ahead and say that's about his ex-fiance. |

Awesome song, definitely check out the old Louder Now demo, often titled 'Divine Intervention Demo.' Lyrics sound mostly correct, the 2nd verse is off though. Only changes I would know is 'you -slut- me into this decision.' I'm not sure about the line that follows that, but then it's 'willing, willing.' instead of limping. Maybe someday an incarnation of this song will actually make it on an album :) |

Reading the rough lyrics of the booklet, that line has to be "...'had to laugh" Great fast song though :) |

| Taking Back Sunday – You Got Me Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Yeah, I definitely agree with that, the lyrics spell it out pretty obviously. Whether it's about his wife or not, it's about some young pregnancy. The song refers to her finding out, her father finding out... how they were both scared but he didn't show it. Possibly she was considering not going through with having the child saying it was her body, but he's just saying he was there through all of it, just as he should have been. | |

| D.R.U.G.S. – If You Think This Song Is About You, It Probably Is Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Tried*** not treed. my dumb typos. haha I find this song pretty relate-able. There may very well be much more story to it, but it just sounds like a girl did him wrong... Just left him behind, hurt... and just shut him down. And he finds himself asking if she's even mentioned his name, felt shameful, or just laid on her back for other guys. Very awesome sound to it, I suggest blast it if you have the chance. The bass is pretty sweet in the verses. |

I love this song. It's adorable. These lyrics can't be completely correct, honestly. I wrote them by ear and just couldn't make out some of the words. "duke-ing" or duking isn't even a word I believe, that's just how it sounds to me. So let me know any corrections to make. This song is great though, more obviously about his wife, Sherri. I love the nod he makes to the name Bemis ...as it rhymes with penis.:] I'm curious about "Shifra" though. |

I don't know if you were listening to the same song... that chorus is pretty off. And some words are misspelled and just a bit different, I'll post my changes in the lyrics that I hear right here in full. I may be a little off, still: Some friends, you left me hanging in a room with a noose in a chair. You told me to stay put and reminded me why I was there. Cold blooded and misguided, You thought this would be your best, then you try to hide it. A chance to move ahead. Today was the day you tried to shut me down. Today was the day you tried to shut me down! Be honest; Did you ever mention my name? Did you get sick of the shame? Did you lay on your back? Be honest; Did you ever mention my name? Did you get sick of the shame? Did you lay on your back, like a WHORE!? Close minded with no direction, a chance to prove who you were. The friends who forgot to think all of the things that you're not. Today was the day you treed to shut me down. Today was the day you treed to shut me down. Today was the day you treed to shut me down! Today was the day you treed to shut me down! Be honest; Did you ever mention my name? Did you get sick of the shame? Did you lay on your back? Be honest; Did you ever mention my name? Did you get sick of the shame? Did you lay on your back? Be honest; Did you ever mention my name? Did you get sick of the shame? Did you lay on your back like a WHORE!? |

| Taking Back Sunday – The Things We'll Never Know Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Just to say it, which I'm sure many people know by now and these comments were made over five years ago... Antonio was definitely in the band for a couple years, and he recorded the EP with this song. All songs have Nolan, and a few have Jesse Lacey on bass/backvox, such as this song I believe; and the others have Adam taking over that position. |

Yes, I'm sorry to say. He left earlier this year. The new album which includes this song was not recorded with Aaron. On that note, Spencer's clean vocals are shown a little more. They're different, but it fits. Sounds great! |

Sorry, my mistake. I always got confused with Sherri and Chauntelle. Her past lovers such as Jesse Lacey and Chad Gilbert... |

"Your other suitors are no poets They're only actors who can play guitar Have I won your heart? They're not students or screenwriters They're only models that they taught to read Love, would you agree?" Is this a jab to her past lovers, e.g. Adam Lazzara? |

| Taking Back Sunday – I'm Not Gay (I Just Wish I Were) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
are you guys serious? I actually don't think it is about a gay encounter. Rather almost a 'joke' title, as well as Baby, Your Beard Hurts. I would guess it just comes out of saying that girls are just difficult to handle... therefor "I'm Not Gay... I Just Wish I Were." So he wouldn't have to deal with girl drama, perhaps? Anyway, this song sounds awesome. The guys are playing it live again since the reunion and it'll be on the new record. A working title for it is 'Why Not A Sexy Pirate?' The lyrics are completely reworked, but it still sounds great. I cant wait to a studio version. |
