One of my favorite Bob Dylan songs. It's amazing how he's written a song that can make you dance and sing, but also cry if you're in a certain mood. His songs can always fill you with hundreds of different emotions. |

This is my favorite Leonard Cohen song. My favorite line is:
"Ah they're shutting down the factory now
Just when all the bills are due"
The whole song is beautiful, but this is my favorite part. In my opinion the song is just about someone he truly loves and he always ends up thinking about. |

It's an interesting point, but I doubt this is the true meaning of the song. Bob Dylan converted to Christianity in the late 70s and early 80s, not the late 80s. Time Out of Mind was made and released in 1997. By 1984 he was already starting to distance himself from religion stating when asked whether he belonged to any church "Not really. Uh, the Church of the Poison Mind." And in 1997 when interviewed he said he didn't subscribe to any organized religion. |
