This is my favorite Leonard Cohen song. My favorite line is:
"Ah they're shutting down the factory now Just when all the bills are due"
The whole song is beautiful, but this is my favorite part. In my opinion the song is just about someone he truly loves and he always ends up thinking about.
This song is about Leonard's return to faith. The "you" is God.
"Even in your arms I know I'll never get it right Even when you bend to give me Comfort in the night" This is the last verse, where Leonard is thinking about living with faith, unlike before. He needs hope because everything has been going wrong... that's what drew him to God in the first place.
Anyway, listen to the song with the idea that it is about reconnecting with your spiritual side, and it will all make sense.
