| All Time Low – Therapy Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I believe it's about his brother committing suicide which triggered the anxiety portion of the song. "My ship went down In a sea of sound When I woke up alone I had everything" I think of this as his life spiraling into turmoil when his brother killed himself. Almost as if everything crashed, there was so much noise around him and he couldn't focus. Then, it seems like he's waking up from a dream or recollection. He's waking up "alone" as in, an only child now that his brother isn't there. Now, it seems like he has everything he had before, except now he has the attention now that his brother is gone. From what I've heard, his brother (Daniel, I believe his name was?) tended to be the attention-grabber of the family and rather melodramatic. Based on what little information (or large information, depending on how someone sees it) on the situation, he didn't have as much attention growing up as his brother did, so this caused some riffs in their relationship. I believe that maybe Alex grew increasingly more resentful of his brother as life went on because of all the attention he gained and that his brother garnered a nasty little case of envy that ignited a little spark that set off the whole thing. They got into a huge fight, Daniel went off, Alex didn't go after him, and then his brother died. Quite sad, really. "A handful of moments I wished I could change And a tongue like a nightmare That cut like a blade" Now it seems like Alex is looking back on his memories and thinking that, had he known this was the effect he was going to have on his brother, he would've never said or done any of the things he did. He spat words of venom out of pure anger and frustration, maybe even a bit of resentment like I mentioned above, and they were cutting, cruel words that pierced his brother until being the attention-seeker Daniel is portrayed to be by many people, he ended his life out of drunken anger that leaves Alex with a guilt that will forever live on. "In a city of fools I was careful and cool But they tore me apart Like a hurricane" To me, it's like Alex is finally going back to his old habitats a changed man. He's seen things that some people have seen and experienced, some that many people haven't, and that the people around him are dunces. They constantly barricade him with questions that seem to rip him apart, too foolish to realize that his calm exterior was there to keep him under control. He's trying to live and these people are too stupid to realize the kind of pain he went through. "A handful of moments I wished I could change But I was carried away" Here, we revisit the whole guilt dynamic. It emphasizes the overwhelming remorse and regret he feels, but life went on and he never had a chance to correct his errors. Life swept him away like a river and he had to continue on a path and not run backwards. "Give me therapy I'm a walking travesty But I'm smiling at everything Therapy, you were never a friend to me And you can keep all your misery" To me, he's saying that he's being caught up in all of these trivial things that are starting to ruin him more and more (like the excessive drinking, for instance) and that he's practically some sort of joke prancing around like everything's okay and that smiling will make it better, even if it's obvious that he's not doing well. He realizes he needs help, but he's too afraid to face his fears and that it'll make him drown in his misery if he revisits the past and tries to get to the bottom of his problems, so he sticks to putting up a front instead of dealing with it. "My lungs gave out As I faced the crowd I think that keeping this up Could be dangerous" I think this is referring to the anxiety attack he had on stage, and he probably had one before that, too, even if it wasn't on stage. The more he tries to act okay, the worse it gets. I think it's also metaphoric, stating that he's putting himself and his health (even quite possibly his sanity) on the line if he continues to pretend he's better for everyone else because it's bound to begin hurting him in the long run like it is now. "I'm flesh and bone I'm a rolling stone And the experts say I'm delirious" I believe he's saying that he's finally gotten some sort of help and he's trying to bare all of it, strip it down to the very core until he can't do anything. By a "rolling stone", I think it means that he's defenseless and he could roll to whichever way someone tells him to, because at that point, he's let a lot of stuff out in the open and he's waiting for an answer. His answer is that he's delirious, that he's gone insane because of everything. Like he's hit the point where he's such a mix of emotions that can't be sorted out, it's all mingled into delirium, if that makes sense. Then we go back to the chorus, and then we hit the bridge. "Arrogant boy Love yourself so no one has to They're better off without you (They're better off without you) Arrogant boy Cause a scene like you're supposed to They'll fall asleep without you You're lucky if your memory remains" Now, it seems like Alex is bitterly putting himself into Daniel's brain and bluntly stating what his brother must've been thinking. His brother was arrogant and dramatic, believing that he was overlooked (despite that he had more attention than anyone else did) and that he didn't need anyone else, that he had himself and that it was enough. He was doing everyone a favor by leaving the world, because he didn't need to love someone else or be loved by another and by getting someone else's hopes up, he's hurting them, so he leaves them permanently. And then by committing suicide, it somewhat seems like Alex is both hurt and angry by it, that this was just another ploy and that even in death, Daniel has still managed successfully pulling one of those stunts built and carefully plotted solely for the intent of attention. Eventually, the addiction to attention grew to the point where people found him to be predictable, pulling off something else to get a glance spared in his direction. Daniel believed that people would be better off without him and that they wouldn't care if he left, that he'd be lucky if someone even thought about him. And then it's the chorus again, ending with Alex instead saying for therapy to choke on its misery. It seems like he's saying screw figuring out the problem, what happened caused a lot of pain and that he was done trying to analyze what went wrong or why this happened, he had to get on with his life and grow from this experience. Alex would have his predictions and interpretations and whatnot as to why this happened, but Daniel was gone and he'd never truly have his answers so he has to move forward with his life and not dwell on the past. Overall, it's a deep, powerful, moving song. I quite love it a lot, seeing as it's one of my favorite songs by All Time Low. It's both enjoyable in a melancholy way, but it forces you to think deeply about what's happening. |

| All Time Low – Too Much Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Holly (Would You Turn Me On?): "Too much of you is never enough." Too Much: "Too much of anything is too much." lol, looks like someone finally learned a lesson, huh? (; Alright, lyrical paradoxes aside, I'm sure many of us can agree that this isn't the greatest song they've ever produced, both lyrically and musically (although I'm sure there's at least one person who can and will differ) but it has grown on me. It's incredibly catchy, but it's also extremely irritating with the repetition that seems almost obsessive to me. Whether it was a joke or a simple song with the glory of autotune and other gizmos and gadgets to change the sound prevail over their album as a whole, or their sound all together, it's still the All Time Low we fell in love with. Just, y'know, changin' things up. I'm not going to say it's so amazing that everyone who hates it is a brainless, effin' person, but I'm not going to say that it sucked primate genitalia either. Onwards, I do believe the lyrics speak for themselves. Clearly, it was a relationship that was going strong until one day, things started to fall apart. To me, it reminds me of when a couple moves in together and has to get used to their living habits and cope with their differences. Eventually, their little quirks clash until they're suffocating one another with several "tactics". Constant fighting, excessive stress, doing things to get back at one another, etc. until they have the sense to break it off. Now, he's saying that they didn't really try hard enough to fix the issue and just fought constantly because it was easier, but he realizes that letting her slip away was a horrible mistake and that he's trying to muster up the courage to get her back, even if it probably won't work. Not to mention that he has too much pride to try groveling for her, despite the pain he's going through without her. Eventually, her realizes he needs to suck it up and apologize for everything he made her go through. Life now became a chore, a dreary existence without having his partner to share it with and that while it sometimes seems like he doesn't understand what happened between them, he realizes that they smothered each other with their love for one another until it was nearly impossible to live with each other. Now, he feels like it's too late but he wants to apologize regardless and possibly start over. He feels as if even through all of this, it still wasn't good enough of a reason to split. They merely have too much of a past with each other, too many feelings for one another, that it may not have been worth throwing their relationship away because they weren't wanting to work it out. Anywho, that's just my two cents. |

| All Time Low – Sticks, Stones, and Techno Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Even when they write a joke, they put their heart and souls into the lyrics, don't they? That's why I adore ATL. | |
| All Time Low – Running from Lions Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I like your interpretation of it a lot. I read online somewhere on this site that apparently Alex Gaskarth had a one-night stand (or flirted---something romantic/sexual) with a woman who drew a lion on his arm and then she proceeded to believe they were in a relationship with each other shortly after and he had to find a way to fix it without hurting her. Which does make sense, but it does seem incredibly shallow (and obvious yet not obvious in a weird, senseless way) but I really do prefer your interpretation. | |
| All Time Low – The Girl's a Straight-Up Hustler Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| As far as I know, it's about a girl who leads a guy on with several one-night stands (although if she's leading him on, I can't exactly say it's a "one-night" stand if they do it multiple times.) | |
| All Time Low – Stella Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| It's about the alcohol, Stella Artois, although the beginning can lead you to believe it was about a girl. They truly are clever, I mean, when you look at an earlier song, like Holly (Would You Turn Me On?) and how it really is about Hollywood, it seems like all of their songs are somehow intertwined. | |
| All Time Low – A Party Song (The Walk of Shame) Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I agree with you, chokeondrama, except for the thirteen year old part among a few other small things. Seeing as I'm thirteen years of age currently, that's one generalization that pisses me off to an extent where I want to thrash people immaturely, but that occurs often, so I suppose I can't blame you for writing it. So no hard feelings there. As for his voice, he has stated before he used to sing in a lower voice. Personally, I think his voice sounds stronger now more than ever, and that's not because of the recording. It's because he's singing the way he's supposed to be. Anyways, I do agree what you mean with the whole TPS from a different POV. It's as if they're adding more to the story in my opinion. But that's my two cents. |

"And just because you're 13 and listen to them doesn't mean that you only care about how they look." Agreed. Seeing as I'm thirteen going on fourteen next month, I don't care about how they look. And I also believe it's extremely petty when people whine about them changing. While I prefer the beats from the older music, that doesn't mean I abhor their newer material. On the contrary, I adore every single song they've put out, released or not. I miss their old music and welcome the new music wholeheartedly. They're going to lose and gain fans by changing their music and you can't keep EVERYONE happy, right? At the end of the day, if they make something they're genuinely proud of, that should be what matters, not the people that despise their changes because they can't/don't accept/don't like it. |

| All Time Low – Remembering Sunday Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| No, she's on a plane, she didn't kill herself. It's been confirmed before, though I can't remember where exactly. | |

| She's on a plane, she didn't kill herself. It was confirmed in an interview, though I can't find it for the life of me. But no, she doesn't kill herself. | |
| All Time Low – Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't) Lyrics | 15 years ago |

How did you know it was his teacher? I had that suspicion after seeing the music video and I knew it was probably about the same person as Coffee Shop Soundtrack, but even if that was the plot for the music video, is it really accurate? I mean, it sounds accurate enough but I don't think Alex even confirmed it being his teacher. He confirmed it being about a married female individual, however. Just curious about it, if you had any genuine, hardcore proof. If not, well, I can see how you got to that conclusion, because I did too. |

| All Time Low – Jasey Rae Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| She doesn't live in Illinois. She lives in Pennsylvania. Alex said that himself in an interview. | |
| All Time Low – Jasey Rae Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| That's what I thought. And then I found out what the song was about and it ruined it for me for like, 3 days, but then I got over it. | |

I just posted a comment about that without reading this. But I agree 100%. |

| All Time Low – Jasey Rae Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Alright, I've seen something online where this "Jasey Rae" girl comes out with the story behind what happened. Now, I'm not sure whether it's correct or not, but based off of the vague details Alex has given, it seems to match up with her story, only hers is more detailed. So in Pennsylvania, they had a show, and afterwards, Alex met a girl named Jasey Rae, whom he quickly befriended. Afterwards, one night, they basically got drunk, had sex, and then he stopped communicating with her and ignored her attempts to contact him. Then one day, his conscience got the best of him and he wrote this song as an apology to her. But now she hates his guts with a fiery, burning passion. I personally love the electric version, rather than the acoustic, because based off of this story, when you analyze the electric, it seems like it's harsher and Alex seems to be hard on himself, but he said so himself that he wrote this song because his conscience got the best of him. So it makes me wonder if he actually told her to "forget about him" for his sake and put his conscience to rest, or her sake. Anyways, I love this song and the lyrics are just raw and well-written. I love it. |

In my opinion, I think the song's about this guy and basically, he likes this girl, but her best friend is extremely popular, and she wants him. But because she can't have him, she talks shit about him because she knows that she'll never have him. And yet, this girl's best friend is seemingly oblivious about it, and he just wants to know what all this girl has told her best friend about him. Love love love this song. |

I thought it was that, too, but then I looked it up and I was like "OH! That makes slightly more sense." But like everyone else stated, it makes sense. |

Okay, does anyone know the song "Noel" by All Time Low, off of their first album The Party Scene? It's based off of what I last checked was Alex Gaskarth's current girlfriend, Lisa Ruocco. Her middle name is Noel. But from that song, it sounds like they were sneaking out and having a secret relationship with one another despite the disapproval from her friends. Ring a bell here? I'm thinking if that one's about Lisa, then so is this one. It's kinda obvious: "Disregard the footsteps And we'll never tell a soul" I'm thinking that means he's telling her to forget everything around her and just focus on him, and they don't have to tell anyone. Because they're sneaking around. Maybe I'm over-thinking it, but I'm pretty sure that's who it's about and that's what it's about. |

That's impossible. Jack Barakat was the original guitarist. He was the one who got Alex to listen to Blink-182, which ultimately led to the formation of the band, after which he pursued Rian Dawson to have a jam session with them. In fact, the only one who isn't "originally" from the band is Rian. They had another drummer who couldn't play as well so they got Rian. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get this information from? |

| All Time Low – Careless Whisper (Wham! cover feat. Juliet Simms and 30H!3) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
First of all, this isn't All Time Low, this is just Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low, it's not the whole band. Personally, I didn't particularly enjoy this as much as I thought I would. This is a classic song they took (my father listens to that type of music so I've heard the original plenty of times before this one) and so I didn't quite know what to expect from this one, not to mention that this is one of the oddest pairings ever. I'm sorry to say, that this was a bit of a disappointment to me. Alex Gaskarth--He honestly can do no wrong. He did really well with what he was given, I really enjoyed his parts of the song. They were really good vocals, and he made the song worth listening to. Juliet Simms--Wonderful job. This girl has some great pipes, and she also made this worth listening to. With what she had been given to sing, I think she nailed it and I loved her part just as well. 3OH!3--Generally, their songs are never good, but are always catchy, though they did nothing right here. They were an abomination here, they ruined what would've been an otherwise semi-decent cover of a pure CLASSIC. Guys, that song never had rap, nor did they act like hooligans that were shouting off things that relate somewhat to the song. Could've been better, had there not been any 3OH!3 involvement. |

| All Time Low – Poison Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This song was released as a bonus track from Nothing Personal. Personally, I think that since they're working on their fourth studio album right now, they should re-release this on that album if it'll fit with their album vibe, and possibly release it as a single from that, too. Another thing is that I think this song is about fame, but to apply universally, I think it also means that it's about someone who got what they wanted, whether it be fame, fortune, popularity, etc. but in the end, they realize it's tougher than you think and that some people just aren't cut out for it/aren't going to enjoy it, but they're stuck where they are. In other words, I think this is about fame and could also apply to popularity. "I've got a house in the back of my head But I can't find a permanent resident 'Cause the market's down And the area's not so good these days I've got a watch but I don't have time I've got a road and it leads to decadence But a dead end sign waits down the line I leave my footprints for the evidence." I'm not quite sure about this part, because I think it's a little too metaphoric for me to understand, but I think the first stanza is supposed to mean that it's a rough ride, a rough place that some people don't want to get mixed up with. They stay away from it, but those that do come, they're only temporarily happy, because they soon see what they put themselves into. The second stanza I think is supposed to mean that they're going to go on a dead-end road where they're spoiled so much, they're not who they used to be. They've changed into someone else for the worst, and the proof will always be there, and they simply can't turn back. "So take my life I'll hand it to you And you can try on my clothes But you can't fill these shoes On a silver platter, your wish came true See a heart of gold turn platinum You can take my life But you can't take it with you." I think the chorus means that you can get mixed up in the life of greed and fortune, but in the end, the lifestyle is never truly yours. You can try it out, but it'll never be what you're cut out for/you can't handle it/it'll only be a fake life. You give up your down-to-earth lifestyle for the "high-life" but at the end of the day, you're merely stuck in a world you don't belong in, which refers back to the dead-end road metaphor in the second stanza of the first verse. The heart turning gold to platinum I think means that you went from where you were, to into the spotlight and that on the sliver platter, your wish came true, meaning that putting themselves into this fancy life, they got what they wanted, but taking the life but not taking it with you is supposed to mean that you realized it's not what you wanted. "More long days and fleeting nights I tell 'em, "Wake me under flashing lights" 'Cause I'm a brand name, bought and sold (Sold, sold, sold) They say a face for fame is a crying shame Because to face the crowd is to play their game And I can play a little too rough now and again (Every now and again) You drank the poison And I let you in." The second verse, first stanza in my opinion, means that each day, you're working to be something you actually aren't for this lifestyle you gave up who you were for, and the nights where you sleep and you relax, they're gone before you know it. And the brand name, brought and sold refers to someone, whether they be famous or just popular, you're fake and you're being something you're not for everyone else. You're losing your dignity for the spotlight. And in the second stanza, I think it means that you drank the poison means that you gave up what you knew for the "high-life" and they were asking for it. I think it means that you're a pawn in this lifestyle's game, doing what they want to please them, even if you yourself aren't pleased. Then the chorus again, which I've already explained my opinion about. And after that would be the bridge. "You drank the poison And I, I let you in Would you trade that heart of gold For a minute in my skin? (x2)" I believe that it means that you got what you've asked for, and that looking back on it, from what you used to be and have to what you now are and have, would you trade what you had for what you now have? Would you trade that normalcy for this lifestyle? Looking back to when you weren't where you are now, what did you think it was like, and now that you have it, do you regret it and wish that you hadn't done what you did? And once again, they repeat the chorus and it goes into instrumental before it ends. I think this song is really deep and shows that sometimes, things aren't really what they seem. Fame and popularity are tougher than people think, and it's a rough and tough world, it's never something to mess with for fun. It's serious business, and sometimes, there are people who are handed this without working for it and it'll never mean anything versus those who do. I also believe that in addition to this being released as a bonus track from Nothing Personal, in a later album, they should release this on it and make it a possible single. |
