I think this song is written from the perspective of someone who has a terminal illness and they're speaking to someone who they had a rocky relationship with earlier in their life. I get the feeling it's a close family member that they had a falling out with and have become estranged from. The narrator is going to die soon and they just want that person to have peace when they die and not to feel sad and have regrets. I think the lines Who do you call to ease your pain I hope for you to get through this rain The narrator knows that person loves them and he/she hopes they have a good support system to help them through their dying. The line "My newfound faith and my broken heart" kills me. I think it's because many people become more spiritual and religious as they get near the end of their lives (hence newfound faith) but they are broken-hearted to be leaving their loved ones. |

I agree with Penguinculus...the line is definitely turned into someone that you only someone that you only know when you're falling through your clothes I take this to mean that the person is looking for fulfillment or self-esteem by having sex with a lot of different people. They only "know" their self as somebody who sleeps around...it's become their identity. Kind of powerful but sad too. |
