maybe it's him looking back on somebody he cared about deeply and therefore who roused strong emotions in him - somebody he loved deeply and also at times hated, only to quickly feel love again - and then when they broke up, even though he moved on to other people (pile lover upon lover) there was "no way to recover" from the heartache of losing that person. but then, the last line seems really spiritual - so maybe it's him, after death, looking back on his life thinking despite these ranges of emotions we feel as human beings on earth, in the afterlife he finds out we are all the same and kindred spirits (i was your brother when i saw you). far-fetched but the last line seems pretty otherworldly to me. really beautiful song |

”salty leave” refers to tears or a tearful goodbye. caleb is talking about a girl who left him. the descriptive parts: her “hour glass body”, that she “has problems drinking milk and being school tardy” and that she’ll “borrow your toothbrush” and “bartend your party” - all refer to the girl’s quirks and the things that he misses - hence, the “kill~ me”. the “she saw my comb-over” part refers to how she knew of his “flaws” or insecurities and presumably, was still okay with them. the ending of the lyrics: “said he’s on his own but his own is you” - i think is caleb referring to himself in the third person. he said he’s on his own but for him to really be him he needs her. |

this is a beauitful song. i dont know if they're talking about intimacy per se though. although the song is intimate. i think it's about our short time on earth - and while we're here, as saints and sightseers, we need to do less talking and do more doing? |
