Starting Lyrics

We could start tonight
Slide back the deadbolts
Let the pictures down
They hold no life
And if you've got some faith then you are faithful
You fall down on your face
You got a face full

We could start tonight
Pull down the plastic
Light the gasoline
Erase the lines

And if you want to live
Then go on living
If you want to give
Gotta get it right

A ceiling was beyond the world I could afford
You'll never knock your head or chip your teeth
If you won't take some more
Or just keep dancing with your chin a vacant stare
The promise worth in very movement was proceeded in your chair

And here we are
Saints and sightseers
The light bulb phosphorescent flash and then we're gone
And there we were all full of fever
A million shakes until the leaves have drifted on

And here we are
Far beyond reason
A million fires a million holes put in the sky
And there we were
Saints and sightseers
A million runway lights to bring us through the night

We stand on ledges, kick our feet and throw our shoes
I tried to move a little closer, nothing left for me to lose
There is no argument to get me going hoarse
Misplaced my mind and now I do not have to worry about before

Less talk, more arms, more legs, more swinging back and forth
Lights on, lights off, I know that I want to be adored
First hips, then knees, then feet, don't think anymore
Make no mistake, there's no blood when the words are gone

Less talk, more arms, more legs, more swinging back and forth
Lights on, lights off, we know we want to be adored
First hips, then knees, then feet, don't think anymore
Make no mistake, there's no blood when the words are gone

this is undoubtedly my favorite song on the new album. when they start into the last two verses of "less talk...," it's such a beautiful, sexy pop breakdown. Finally, a song that makes intimacy something cherished and desired, without being perverse.

I definitely agree. He does the same in Summer Butcher Two and makes it an absolutely beautiful song. The new album has taken time for me to really appreciate and like. I definitely enjoy it though especially this song.

I also agree completely, this song is so infectious and rhythmic, and expels such intimacy artistically not perverse. Looking at this album's rank of albums 51,300 at Amazon tells me that the world still does not know how incredible this band really is...and pitchforks poor reviews doesn't help. When will a band be recognized for such beautiful lyrics, intimate and real...this is about as poetic as it gets for today's music.

this is a beauitful song. i dont know if they're talking about intimacy per se though. although the song is intimate. i think it's about our short time on earth - and while we're here, as saints and sightseers, we need to do less talking and do more doing?

indeed; i find this album to be very poetic as a whole.

i sort of see this song like that saying... um, something to the effect of... when you have nothing left to lose, anything goes.
