| When I saw these guys live, he dedicated it to the girl who he hasn't met yet but he's going to meet and spend the rest of his life with. I don't know about anyone else, but this song is amazing if you listen to it after ending a relationship. It's like saying, there's someone out there who's going to be incredible, and i'm on my way to meet you someday. Really beautiful. | |

| I think this song is about a well intentioned guy- he's not really over this girl at all- 'Emily, you still live inside of me,' but he knows that it's the best thing if he doesn't wait around for her because he knows deep down she isn't good for him. It's like he's trying to be bitter about it, but he still loves her deep down no matter what she did to him. It's a beautiful song that I think a lot of people can relate to, myself included! :) | |

This song is incredible. I've just taken a huge step and broken up from my girlfriend. It was something I knew I needed to do because it was doing me no good and as hard as it was, the lyrics of this song are incredibly comforting. It's just the bridge section: 'Have no fear for giving in, Have no fear for giving over, You'd better know that in the end, It's better to say too much, Than never to say what you eeed to say again...' I think the song is about being brave with words: when you know you need to tell someone something, you do it, as you know deep down you'll live your life regretting it if you don't. Incredible words and song. |

This was me and my girlfriends song, and, as the song suggests, it always will be. In fact it was this song that brought me and her to where we are now. When we first met each other, this was our song. When I was round at hers one time, I wrote the chorus of the song on a board in her bedroom, cos it was one of those moments where it seemed like the words really fitted. A short time after that, we decided it wasn't working and we finished it. She went home for the weekend and saw the words of the song on her wall, and they seemed to take on a whole new meaning: 'Even the best fall down sometimes, Even the wrong words seem to rhyme.' This is when you break up- though it might seem completely wrong at the time and you both know you both still care about each other, 'even the wrong words seem to rhyme' and you still go you own separate ways. But you find that, in time, you come to a point where you realise you need that person back again, and you 'collide'. Thats my reading of it anyway, might be a bit biased though!! |

I've been listening to Battle Studies a lot recently, obviously because it's an incredible record but also because every song on there seems to hit the spot right now. I broke up with my girlfriend 3 weeks ago, and recently she's come back and wanted to 'try again'. I remembering listening to this song when she left mine a few nights ago and realising that this wasn't what I wanted at all: 'You say you want to try again, But i've tried everything but giving in. Why you want to break my heart again, Why am I gonna let you try?' These words hit me really hard: in the past, i'd have let someone back in my life, but this time round i've realised that I don't want to get back with someone who wants to 'break my heart again'. I guess generally this song is about moving on from someone who isn't good for you: as much as you want them back and they want the same thing, you take the upper hand and realise that all you'll be doing is 'saying goodbye' again. Beautiful song, like the album! Charlie |
