| Billy Joel – A Matter Of Trust Lyrics | 15 years ago |

The song is about exactly what the title says - Trust - period. There are many types of love, but without trust there is no true, sustaining relationship. Trust is the foundation on which all relationships should be based. Without it, you will hold back, you will doubt, you will try to control, and the relationship will ultimately fizzle out and die. It's a Matter of Trust. |

I agree with you too - where is all this 'cheating' coming from? If you look at the video he is ALWAYS with this other girl and NEVER with her! It's all about her crush on a guy who is with someone else and desparate for his attention! damidwestprincess said "it did blow up in his face and he lost her" ---> she never had him! He has another girl! But, that's just mho based on not only the words but the video as well. |

I think this is about a girl who has a crush on a guy who is involved with another girl. She always sees him with the other girl and wishes he was with her. It's almost like she's stalking him, taking all the pictures, and desperate to get his attention. That's why she tells all the 'sweet little lies' and has 'some tricks up my sleeve, for noticing me' - that's all that is meant by 'baby, there's a shark in the water', 'there's something underneath my bed', 'you better get here soon' - little exaggerations and drama - she's crying wolf when there is none. As it says - she 'wouldn't cause you any harm', those are just the little tricks she is using to get him over there...little lies, 'more like April fools' - little jokes -->she's just winding him up. And she's 'feeling so lost' cuz she knows it's 'ticking him off' - that's why at the end she leaves the picture and he just looks frustrated, because he's just not interested and how does he get rid of her? Watch the video again and think about the words... PS - I agree with the others as far as the words dilly, filly, and this is more like April Fool's. I still can't figure out what the line is where the have "Rather have you lie, yeah" that doesn't sound right, but I can't tell what she's singing. |
