The song is about her boyfriend cheating on her with another woman.
Simply put -
This song is about how she creates drama when she wants her boyfriend (or the guy she likes) close to him.
Hence why she "cries wolf", talks about sharks in the water (she just wants him to be close to her) etc, etc. It's like making a big deal out of something that doesn't matter, just so that in the end, the two will be a little closer, if only for a little while.
Also there's a couple of posters here that needs to stop projecting...though I suppose you can't help that, particularly with music.

I agree with the 'dilly' and 'maybe' part After listening to that part a few times, it does sound like 'This is what I get/gain/give for foo' or something, but I think 'This is more like April fools' is correct. She only really says 'foo' tho. Like Mr. T. But not on purpose. =P

I can see about boys lying to girls but I think it can also be interpreted to mean something about wanting to be saved but pretending to be a damsel-in-distress in order to find a guy who's noble enough to save her.

I believe this song is about someone who's in a relationship and they are actually paranoid about other girls coming around. I know that because of my past relationships i am always quick to worry about every girl who comes up to my girlfriend and i freak out even though its nothing to worry about and then im fine the next day. i believe shes freaking out but then pretty much saying she just wants them. i dont know. thats how i see it. im sure theres another reason.
first off let me just say that i love song meanings and reading peoples interpretations of music and lyrics. but i will say that sometimes i think we try to over analyze simple lyrics and miss the basic meaning of the song. the song is about her testing her lover, and seeing if she can say anything and he will still be around. she tells him theres a shark in the water just to see if he protects her, she tells him theres something underneath her bed so he can check for her. "But when I'm in doubt, I open my mouth And words come out" whenever she doubts him, she tests his ability to stay with her.
I don't get where people are getting the 'cheater' thing from or all these multiple people supposedly involved lol I think that is more what the video is about, not really the song though.
I think it's about a girl who tells 'little white lies' and 'cries wolf cry' to get attention from her boyfriend/crush/love interest. She just wants his attention so she says these things and maybe she knows she kinda bugs him some times but 'she can't help herself' and 'just wants him in her arms' and it's basically 'harmless' and 'not that serious'.
Either way, it's a nice, fun summer song like someone said.
