| MGMT – I Found a Whistle Lyrics | 15 years ago |

i'm just gonna throw this out here, at the risk of getting a million thumbs down from all the "MGMT is not all about drugs" kids, but i think every last one of their songs are about drugs... and something else. it's such a recurring theme with them, but then their songs always have some other theme in them that fits just as well. but the drug related imagery is SO specifically referenced and so intense that it can't really be chance. it just seems to me as though drugs have had such an influence in their everyday lives and can be related to just about everything these days, that they are using it in relation to everything just to subliminally imply that drugs are all around us and are a huge part of the world if you let them in. rereading this i realized it makes more sense in my head, but oh well. |

| MGMT – Flash Delirium Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| At the risk of sounding extremely ignorant, where exactly is all this "stab your facebook" thing coming from? Was it in an interview with them or something? I actually shut my facebook down about a week ago.. which is weird because i'm honestly just hearing about this now. What's the story? | |
| MGMT – Congratulations Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I think I get most of this song, and I hope this doesn't come off as a dumb question, but does he really want congratulations or not? my first instinct was yes, he's saying he doesn't care for the money or fame, he just wants some appreciation for the music. But upon reading more into the lyrics I thought maybe he is being saracastic, as in he's getting all this money and fame, and next someone is going to congratulate him for all the "hard work" when really he just feels guilty for being insincere and letting the music industry do all the work for him. I'm leaning toward the second, but i just don't know. But this is what i love about interpreting music, so many possibilities :D And i love that the comments on here are always in depth, thoughtful, and posted by true fans who understand and appreciate the music. I get soo frustrated on Youtube with comments like, "YEAHH man! bro mgmt roks so hard and i fuckin luv this song on acidd trippin balls dude!!!111 lolololol" :/ thank god for Congratulations to weed out all the real, appreciative fans :) not that i'm saying i have a problem with people who don't really know MGMT and only like their popular songs, i'm like that with a few artists myself, but then when those people claim they're "huge fans" i'm not amused :/ anyways, i'm finished rambling, i just wanted to throw that question in there :) thanks in advance if you comment back with a reply. |
