Someone mentioned that although they like the song it made them feel uncomfortable. I've always felt the same way, even as a small child. It is so sad to think that people go through life un-noticed, and even when they die there is no-one to miss them which is what I think this song is about.

One of the most beautiful powerful love songs ever! I have always loved this song but it took a while for me to get my head around the video but then I got it. Pure love like a white light driving the darkness and bad things away. I always thought it was hilarious that this was the same guys that sang Relax, but hey they're both great songs in different ways.

Of course this song is about sex! What else could it possibly be about? Sounds like it's also about delaying gratification to get the most pleasure. Apparently when it first came out the band said it was about something else but later admitted it was about sex, as if anyone would believe it could be about anything else. Great 80's song. By the way the guy with the moustache now lives a quiet life here in rural New Zealand.

I always thought this song was about a relationship but not necessarily typical boy/girl. I think it's about a person who tries always to see the light being frustrated by a negative person who always lives in a dark world but they will always be entwined with each other. It's one of the most beautiful melancholy songs ever. This from someone who took years to actually like Pink Floyd at all, probably because everyone told me I should like them I backed off. I love being contrary.

This song probably was written before the Queen's silver jubilee but was definitely released to coincide with it, that's why it became #1 that year. It's about the political landscape at the time and the hopelessness that a lot of young people felt. Funny reading comments from all these teen try-hard wannabe punks. Punk is not an image or fashion, it is a state of mind, and you would have been eaten alive by a real punk in the 70's. As for Sid, he died young, in his prime and became an icon much like James Dean. Johnny and Glenn were the backbone of the Sex Pistols. Well thats my 5cents worth!

This song sums up a young Johnny Rotten perfectly. From the insane laugh at the beginning and the crazy eyes you can tell he never took anything too serious except to cause a bit of chaos and get people to buck the establishment and think for themselves. Loved an interview I saw with him a few years ago when he said "I used to be an angry young man, now I'm an angry old man". And he was teary eyed when talking about Sid, he still misses him. Kinda nice to see a softer side.

Have to agree with Mad Slanted Powers, it certainly sounds like a man having de ja vu and wondering if it is possible that he lived in a past life and the song was written about him. I have a love/hate relationship with this song as my dad played Marty Robbins a lot when I was growing up and it drove me crazy. He was so excited when he was in USA last year and actually bought a Marty Robbins album in El Paso City itself.

She has no depth and once she decides the fun is over she moves on to the next thing/person and he sees her for who she really is. Josega's comment really cracked me up, very funny. I'm pretty sure it's not about masturbation but hey, if that's your thing don't let me stop you. The song is about dancing by yourself and not waiting for anyone elses company or approval. Also you can be dancing with someone but not feel connected hence "dancing with myself" like feeling lonely in a crowded room.

Can't believe no-one has posted on this song!!!!! It is the best Billy Idol song ever. Sounds like someone struggling with a drug habit, saying he has lived a wild life but wants to go straight and asking for help "if I should stumble, catch my fall" and warning that it is easy to fall into that lifestyle "it could happen to you, so think for yourself". This song showcases what a great vocal range Billy Idol has. He's a big Elvis fan so I think he's trying out the Elvis voice with this song.

This was my 1st Kiss song! I loved it sooooo much that it led me into quite an obsession with Kiss for ages. Urfantasy is right, this is an odd song for Kiss, in fact the whole album is odd for Kiss. But having said that I have always really liked it but I have always been a sucker for their gentler songs. Wolfpac2007 is also correct, it was supposed to be the soundtrack for a movie that never got off the ground. If you think about the concept of Kiss ie. based on comic book type characters, I guess it isn't that outlandish. And I don't know about it being their worst album, just different. Guess it depends on your taste.

This song reminds me of my brother. A stoner who can't get off his arse and will use any excuse not to do anything productive. This is one of the few songs I actually believe relates to drugs but it's also about a basically lazy person. I'm glad other people recognised a Beatles sound as well. It reminds me of "For the benefit of Mr Kite" (Hope I got the title right, don't want to piss off any die-hard Beatles fan). Liam has often been quoted as saying the Beatles are the greatest band in the world and has a son called Lennon so there is bound to be an influence here and there in their music.

One of my all time very favourite songs. So passionate but yet so tragic. Sounds like they are still in love but "flogging a dead horse" as the relationship is not going to get any better. He is reluctant to end it but knows it's the best thing for both of them. Been a Kiss fan for too many years to count but am always a sucker for their soppy stuff. If you haven't heard their concept album "Music from the Elder" check it out. Great album and very interesting but don't expect too much headbanging music although "I" is more their usual style.

That's what I love about this site, everybody has different ideas about what lyrics mean. I hadn't thought about this song relating to the death of Ian Curtis but I guess it could fit. I always thought it was about a guy trapped in a relationship with a controlling woman but not feeling loved "Tell me how should I feel?". He's expressing his bitterness by saying "if it wasn't for your misfortune, I'd be a heavenly person today" meaning if she felt better about herself she wouldn't treat him so bad or if he was stronger he would have walked away long ago. I really don't think it's about war or the navy, just because he sees a ship in the harbour. I always pictured him staring at the harbour trying to collect his thoughts about this bad relationship.

I have a DVD about the making of this album and I'm sure Bernie said although he couldn't quite remember what he was thinking at the time it's a song about disillusionment, probably about fame and the fact that it's not all it's cracked up to be for a country boy like him. I have sung this song to my daughter from birth as it was the only song I knew all the words to and 2 years later it is the only song that calms her down. Kinda wish I had chosen a more cherry song, but there ya go!

I can so relate to this song as i'm sure most people can. I had an experience years ago that was caused by extreme stress, I thought i was going crazy and became paranoid and unsure of everything. I don't think the song is necessarily about drugs or mental illness, it seems to be more about hitting the wall and not being able to cope at that moment but trusting that things will come right eventually.

The lyrics aren't rude or offensive, they are about going out and having a good time. Some people read too much into things! The chipmunks have done a version (groan, don't i know it) so it's definitely not rude!!!!
