| Seals & Crofts – Summer Breeze Lyrics | 7 years ago |
| Much of the music of Seals and Crofts was inspired by the Baha'i Faith. Jasmine is planted frequently in the gardens of the Baha'i World Centre in Haifa and 'Akko, Israel. Jasmine flowers and essential oil are used in the Shrine of Baha'u'llah, so for Baha'is who have visited there, anything involving jasmine reminds them of time spent in the Shrine. | |

One phrase unlocks this song. For any of Ville's lyrics, you need to know that he is basically a Beaudelaire fanboy. He actually admits this in "Love the Hard Way." The phrase in question is "Little Deaths." If you know any French and euphemisms for "orgasm" you will understand this. "La Petite Mort." The entire song is about having sex all night and/or wanting your lover to stay in bed. That's it. |

| Fair to Midland – Rikki Tikki Tavi Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is a short story by Rudyard Kipling about a mongoose who fights cobras(an aptitude which mongooses possess). There are also obvious Wizard of Oz references. Essentially, this lyric is saying that you have everything you need already inside you. That you don't need to listen to anyone that tells you to be otherwise. Punch for punch, blow to blow, mongoose vs. cobra; stay true to yourself and you will always emerge victorious. |

| Fair to Midland – Kyla Cries Cologne Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
"Planting the seeds you sow is easier than growing the rose" I'm definitely hearing a sibilant at the end of the stanza. Hence "rose" instead of "row." It could also be the homophone "rows", but "rose" makes more sense IMO. With "rose" the poet is observing the "just add water" ethic. That which produces something commonplace that is merely a carbon-copy versus pouring your heart and all of your effort into producing something truly beautiful. |
