| M83 – Steve McQueen Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I love these lyrics: I just can't recognize myself, Tears of joy run all over my face. The idea of the person not being able to recognise themselves but only to then express joy at this because they have changed in such a way that it brings them happiness. I think it is something that all people hope for at some point in their life. |

| Little Comets – Joanna Lyrics | 13 years ago |

What I love about this song is how he says "Joanna". When he is singing; "Joanna, Joanna take me home." it It's almost as if he is trying to sound like he could be saying "Do you wanna", implying that at the same time as sort of demanding her take him home, he also asks her if she wants to. He might have intended on doing this because he is confused and doesn't really know whether he she should or whether he should go back with her. The only reason I got that is because of the part where he states; "It's the morning, the morning and it still doesn't feel right" So as to say when asking her the night before, it didn't feel right just like it doesn't in the morning, hence his way of pronouncing it to sound as if he is confused. That's my 2 cents anyway... |

| Dido – If I Rise Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I think it's about making the most of what you have and what time you have left. Rising above any problems or things you are worrying about. Heard this for the first time last night during 127 Hours and it's at a pretty emotional moment of the movie. Such a great movie and this went so well with the part it was played in. Dido's voice is out of this world in the song. |

| Kings of Leon – Beach Side Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I'm sure I read somewhere that he ad-libbed the lyrics to this song. He didn't have a full song before recorded it so if you don't get some of it then your guess is as good as any to be honest lol. | |
| White Lies – Bigger Than Us Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Your two posts explain exactly how I think the lyrics and video are meant to mean. The person is fed up of the girl only wanting him at certain times, because she is caught up in everything else. "Guilt smeared across your lips, I was tired and cold from the window You're tired, nothing's changed." He's trying to be with her but she is pushing him away because of 'being tired' or other reasons so he wants to go home, whether that is literal I don't know. But yeah brilliant song from White Lies (again, like usual :D). Can't wait, going to see them in February! |

| White Lies – E.S.T. Lyrics | 15 years ago |

If you tell me to jump then I'll die In my dreams I'm there Almost as if they are requesting this very situation but yet are only being subtle about it. The first line is an amazing lyric, so to the point but still leaves it up for debate. |

| White Lies – Unfinished Business Lyrics | 15 years ago |

It's so beautifully dark that it's impossible to pin exactly how you feel about it. They don't have a bad song on the whole album, all the songs are lyrically and musically brilliant. The earlier explanation was spot on for me as well. |

| Manic Street Preachers – (It's Not War) Just The End Of Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I think it's seen as 2 sides to the story. He thinks the way he is feeling is completely opposite to that of the woman. "it's not war - just the end of love" He sees that it's just the end but thinks the woman holds a bitter grudge, hence why he states it isn't war. For both of them to just move on... "you fight your war, i fight for my life" Like here, he thinks she is so concerned about fighting a war with him over the breakup. Whereas he fights for his 'life' because of the heartbreak. Love this song anyway, I have a good feeling about this album. The Manics are class. |

| Fatboy Slim – Right Here, Right Now Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This song is a pure football song. Play this before a game, gets me so psyched. | |
| The Drums – Book of Stories Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I see it as the person being in love and basically he's fed up. Not happy in the relationship and he kind of states it with the line "I don't want to dance anymore" obviously not meaning dance literally but it's always seen as a way of expressing enjoyment. Then he mentions "I thought I'd be ok till I hit that floor" maybe meaning rock bottom? He's finally hit rock bottom and just can't take the depressing romance that he is feeling. |

| The Smiths – Still Ill Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
The lines; Ask me why and I'll die oh ask me why and I'll die Stand out to me out of all the song, even if the rest of the song doesn't fit with it, that it's as if he is saying to someone that he loves them and that if they were to say "Why?" He would metaphorically die... Depressing but there is something beautiful about it, much like all of The Smiths lyrics. |

| Dinah Washington – This Bitter Earth/On the Nature of Daylight Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I too heard this for the first time at the end of Shutter Island. I much prefer the version played at the end of the film, to the one that Dinah Washington originally did... I am right in saying the backing track (composed score) is different? From what I remember anyway. Beautiful song and it does make you feel quite a bit of emotion, not just because it reminds you of the film but the lyrics are so beautiful and honest. It's as if it is a prayer to God from a person that doubts themselves and doesn't have much faith left. |

| Snow Patrol – Set the Fire to the Third Bar Lyrics | 15 years ago |

"No one should ever have to be abandoned, to be lost. We should always have someone." That's a great thought and it should be true but sometimes it just isn't. |

The line; "The distance from A to where you'd B" Is such a clever lyric, I love that line. Actually the whole first verse is clever how it is all about (or atleast metaphorically) how much a person longs for another whilst looking at a map. But the great thing is that both of them are singing at the same time so really it's as if both are trying to find each other at the same time. Which makes it much sweeter. The song doesn't get enough credit for how beautiful it really is. These lines stand out to me as well more than anything; "The laughter penetrates my silence As drunken men find flaws in science Their words mostly noises Ghosts with just voices Your words in my memory Are like music to me" It's as if he/she is angry or upset but still manages to laugh, showing how much they love the other person. The science bit to me sounds as if a woman is saying how men don't fully understand love and that they don't take the science of a 'broken heart' seriously. That's the way I interpret it anyway... The verse after that to me seems like the person can't hear other's voices the same as this person they love because they're ordinary. Great song and easily Snow Patrol's best. |

| John Butler Trio – Ragged Mile (Spirit Song) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Few thing you should correct: "'Cos until you know who you are," - this should be; "'Cos until you know just who you are," A new verse should begin on the line; "From the bosom to bare bones," "I know who you are, I know who you are" It should be; "I know you are, I know who you are" ^ That is also the chorus and should put (x3) as it's repeated, but the final line of the chorus is just; "I know you are" Line after this; "And though at times you'll be at your knees," Is the start of another verse... Again at the bottom it is; "I know you are, I know who you are" (x3) Brilliant that you got the lyrics up though, it's a fantastic song! |

| John Butler Trio – One Way Road Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Such an amazing song. You fully appreciate the genius of the lyrics when listening to a live/acoustic version. Though you also have more respect for the upbeat album version due to how fast he churns out the lyrics. | |
