I love how a cover can sometimes change the entire feel and interpretation of a song just by changing the music but not the lyrics.
The Cure version is clearly about being at home bored because you can't afford to go out, with a brief wonder about a girl he met / knew.
The Living End cover seems far more anxious, I get a "she was meant to be home hours ago, where is she??' vibe. |

They mentioned in an interview this song was inspired by an argument they saw a couple have at a party.
The meaning that I get from it is a guy committing suicide with the intent of devastating his partner - but I get the impression that I'm missing a piece as it seems too obvious. |

I think this song could be hugely open to interpretation, but I think it's about losing touch with friends from school. It's easy to be so excited about finishing school, running ahead to start your life and career - but the realization of leaving your friends behind usually doesn't hit until a few years later. |
