I get back home at a quarter to four
What ya doin' with ya keys inside my door?
Seventeen and you've never been here before
I try my best not to put you down
But there's a hole in my head where the words fall out
I don’t care what faithless people say
Should I care?
Seventeen
Don't change one thing
We take our chances every day
We watch those bleeding hearts decay
I’d walk through walls, would it make you stay?
I burnt my bridges and I burned my friends
If I had my time, I’d do it again
I don't care what faithless people say
I don't care
Seventeen
Don't change one thing
Just burn to the end
That's seventeen girl
Seventeen
Don’t change one thing
Just burn to the end
That's seventeen girl
I don't wanna talk, I wanna go home
There's a voice in my head, won’t leave me alone
I want you to follow me home
Coz I know this star that we transcend
Could be the only chance we get
Seventeen, I’ve never been here before
Seventeen
Don't change one thing
Just burn to the end
That's seventeen girl
Seventeen
Don’t change one thing
Just burn to the end
That's seventeen girl
Burn to the end
What ya doin' with ya keys inside my door?
Seventeen and you've never been here before
But there's a hole in my head where the words fall out
I don’t care what faithless people say
Should I care?
Don't change one thing
We watch those bleeding hearts decay
I’d walk through walls, would it make you stay?
If I had my time, I’d do it again
I don't care what faithless people say
I don't care
Don't change one thing
Just burn to the end
That's seventeen girl
Seventeen
Don’t change one thing
Just burn to the end
That's seventeen girl
There's a voice in my head, won’t leave me alone
I want you to follow me home
Could be the only chance we get
Seventeen, I’ve never been here before
Don't change one thing
Just burn to the end
That's seventeen girl
Seventeen
Don’t change one thing
Just burn to the end
That's seventeen girl
Burn to the end

I watched a doco on Jet the other day and they explained this song...
Lead singer (Nick?) had just moved into an apartment that his friend had moved out of because he was moving out of the city and the landlords daughter had caught wind that the guy was moving out and Nick caught her and her boyfriend opening the door to the apartment. She was seventeen and apprently after the whole situation happened he got to thinking what he was like when he was seventeen and all the stuff he used to get up to.
'I get back home at a quarter to four What ya doin' with ya keys inside my door? Seventeen and you've never been here before
I try my best not to put you down But there's a hole in my head where the words fall out I dont care what faithless people say Should I care?'
So thats like when he caught her and then
'We take our chances every day We watch those bleeding hearts decay Id walk through walls, would it make you stay?
I burnt my bridges and I burned my friends If I had my time, Id do it again I don't care what faithless people say I don't care'
Is like how he used to act and feel when he was seventeen.
I love this song, its so good. especially live!!
Sounds kind of pedo-ish to me, despite her being "of age" per se.
I'll be honest, I don't really get this song (I'm generally crap at interpreting songs and poetry) but I have to say, as someone who used to be REALLY sick of Jet, I absolutely LOVE this song!!
Yeah I really like this song too, and I don't have a clue what it's about either. Makes me feel really good though cos it's such a happy song and it's been stuck in my head all week through all my exams.
It is kinda confusing.. although he might be refering to the age 17 because he says' 'seventeen, dont change one thing'. Could mean he's singing about her being younger than him, in a relationship. No idea :S
He's with a girl who's seventeen years old and he
"don't care what faithless people say".
"We take our chances everyday"
regardless of the odds.
"That's seventeen girl"
He's singing about his girl.
"I don't wanna talk, I wanna go home ... I want you to follow me home"
He's taking her home.
"Coz I know this star that we transcend Could be the only chance we get"
is an astrological metaphor.
"Seventeen, Ive never been here before"
This is the first time he's dated a 17yo.
Nic Cester is to celebrate 31st birthday on the 6th of July BTW :o
