Ok, this is might be completely just me, but whenever I listen to music, it is always on headphones. So, at the end of the second verse, right when it busts out as he begins yelling "2002", listen closely. I always hear another layer of Gareth vocals yelling, "Fuck the world because the world doesn't feel like you!" He yells it in the same manner as "Shout at the world because the world doesn't love you,". I could be crazy, but I like imagining it there. Tell me what you hear. |

Can anyone who speaks colloquial spanish give me a good translation of Solo A Terceros? Just the title, I mean. I understand it means "only in thirds" but how does that relate to the song or what he is saying? Explicamelo por favor! It may be a little awkward because the words "golf course" aren't exactly a demonstration of English at it's most beautiful. Although, I definitely believe it works with the lyrics well. "500 hundred years dead set ahead of me, 500 behind". That's the golf course, full of obstacles and dog legs. One way you look is your past all the treacherous terrain already overcame and the other way is the future stretching out, and for the girl main character, looking just as difficult and domineering as the past has been. Thus, her suicidal thoughts and cynical outlook. |

It's definitely about a friend with a heroin addiction. Really quite sad, because now, it's almost autobiographical. Shannon's life was parallel with his friends. And unfortunately he was taken and there was a last time that we were "gonna look at you". It makes me very sad that he couldn't be helped. So much potential, "in 5 lifetimes, hell, i couldn't do em' all".
And for me the meaning of drive is hidden by the car ideas projected through the song. I believe he means "drive the spike". Train "tracks" like "track marks" are driven by "spikes" a.k.a. "needles". He is askin' the narrator of the song to shoot up with him. At least that's how I see it. |
