I love this song, i think its about lost love and being with the right person but its the wrong timing maybe a betrayal "First to go and the last to know" and also a breakdown in communication in the relationship and high expectations of one person, as in "Cant you see, there is only one me, and that me is me" but its a very personal song and very relatable to anyone who has been in that situation |

i think its about a guy who has a woman who puts him on a pedastal all the time, and he's like I can only be me, I am just a man, and I see it about being the modern man as well, measuring up to what they should be if you see it from that angle Or it could also be bring afraid to love and denying to hiself until the right person came, like with "Every night I shut my eyes so I dont have to see the light" meaning to me denying to yourself not wanting the hurt and pain that comes with it, then in the end giving in "But now I've got them open wide, you've fallen into my hands and now you're burning me" which meaning he cant hide anymore, and now he's opened his eyes he's seen whats been infront of him the whole time. |

i love the fact of all the different interpretations of the song, I felt that it was the experience of 2 people together feeling the same thing, the one amazing moment that no one can take away. i think its an awesome song so lets start with that, I love the story it tells basically, to me it seems like a girlfriend that is being demanding and not respecting what he has to do, and when he's saying "I'm here where you want me to be" Its like I am here, I might not be here 24-7 but I'll be here to love you all the same and never ask why, but I feel that maybe she has something to hide like she has done wrong as well so by ending up telling the truth, where the "You'll be on your knees" as in begging for forgiveness, and not accepting that he has had enough and finally wants out. |

as we know patton and co have always left their lyrics to the intereptation of the listner, and you can take many things from this song. Musically its great, it has that piano- jazz vibe that is really seductive, and the lyrics can be seen as an older man falling for a much younger woman as a lolita type scenrio, or you can see it as an obbession for another person I see what 7 strings says there about "We'll sing and dance and we'll find romance" as a rock concert but I took it also as an escape, somewhere that they are free to be themselves without judgement. And I do agree, I do see at as the lure of rock n roll, the touring as in "Edge Of The World" Great song in summary |
