"Still, I'm through acting like this feels right" This verse pretty much gives a clue to what the song's about doesn't it? The guy's getting into something with the girl despite knowing that it probably won't work out - and why: "You'll shut me up and bleed me dry With cheap champagne And a complicated lifestyle" But as the rest of the lyrics progress, we know he's not gonna give up even if that means he dies. As for the verses: "You felt the sun warming your bed You look so quintessential Pressed against that cross In the face of what was lost Still, I'm not asking much of me You're ignoring the matter" It probably refers to how she once used to be all innocent and holy (with reference to the cross). The next 3 lines are a reflection of how their "rekindled relationship" stands - she's since turned into a devil while he's pretty much still the same person he used to be, and how she is now isn't gonna help whatever they've got going on. |
