| I thought it was "easy to love", not "easy to lure"... | |

| Even though you're right, I'm just saying it doesn't really matter much in this song, haha. | |

| But then again, does any of this song really make sense? It is about penny loafers, after all... | |

It doesn't make sense, though, because he says he made it out alive; but just barely. I think he means he didn't really cheat on her, but considered it. Barely got out of it, and still regrets those thoughts from time to time (burns) but knows he was forgiven by God. OR He was tricked and disowned by his Fiance by no fault of his own, hence him talking about crawling back home and being nourished bact to life by life (God.) Sounds like he feels like he got an emotional beating and found God to be his only refuge. Personally, I don't think he cheated. I love this album and I've listened to it so many times, and I think, if he had, they would be filled with more remorse. Sure, they're mournful and sorrowful and full of pain, but they don't sound very regretful or remorseful, at least not the level I think you'd be if you cheated on your fiance. Not that it's any of anyone's business anyway. It's great music and very relatable and certainly beautiful. Isn't that what music is supposed to be? |

| Thanks! Yay, I'm glad I'm not crazy... Haha, and I do that all the time as well. Another reason I love this song! | |

| Junai0, You're very right, you don't have to church to go to Heaven; in fact, church can be a risky place to go. Many people rely on churches, retreats and Bible studies to have a relationship with God. In other words, their relationship is of this world. However, church is a great way to a) have your questions answered and doubts dissolved, b) be in fellowship with other Christsians, and c) come to a safe place when you're in pain and in need. Also, the Bible can often be hard to interpret. Your pastor can often explain certain passages and make them applicable to your life. You are correct, however; when it comes down to it, God'll be judging your heart, not your schedule. | |

| I'm just going to go out on a limb and say maybe it wasn't cheating, but something more mutual. Since it was probably more publicized than Shannon (?) thought it would be, she freaked out and overreacted, trying to defend herself and made that accusation. I'm not saying it's all her fault, or his for that matter, but that it was probably made to be more than it really is. | |

| I heard he was writing love songs about a girl he hadn't met yet, because, even though he cared deeply about her and loved her dearly, she wsn't the one God intended him to be with. So she takes it the wrong way and breaks off the engagement, which is probably for the best; I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter how much you love someone if you don't have God's blessing, at least in my Christian opinion. :) | |

| I don't know; how would you feel if your fiance started writing love songs about some other girl? It was probably mutual; they both felt that, because of this, their marriage wouldn't be very successful. The writing of other love songs was most likely the starter of these conversations. I can see how it would be misconstrued with cheating, though. He was writing songs about another girl, though he doesn't yet know who. I think, if he didn't cheat (which I think is the case,) and he was just writing songs about another girl, breaking off the engagement was probably the best idea in any case. | |

I think this song goes like this: "I got a chill And I wanted to say it was you Be still because what I'm about to say is the truth Unless we stretch until the point of nearly breaking in two We'll never find our weakness coming unglued" This verse is referring to his search for God, and wondering if he is misinterpreting God's wishes for his life. He's beginning to realize that what he thought was God's will may have been wishful thinking as he searched for a sign that he should go in the direction he wanted to. "A cracked sculpture I wanted to say it was you Feeding vultures are why I feel the way I do I fell in love And I wanted to say it was you I wanted to say it was you" He's denying that the feelings of maybe his fiance not being who he is meant to be with are from God, that it is people who are detrimines to pick him apart, which is why he uses vultures. He fell in love and wanted to say that it had to have been God's wishes and that this was the girl he was meant to be with, but really it was wishful thinking. "If you believe me We could stand the test of time like no one else If you believe me It means you'd have to disbelieve yourself" I think this might be God's voice, telling him that to listen to what God has to say, you have to ignore your own desires, or disneleive yourself. He also ends it with the phrase, "if you beleive me," emphasizing that it is our choice to beleive God, that he doesn't force us. "A sudden wind And I wanted to say it was you I've never been So confused about who knows the truth Where to begin Well I wanted to say it was you Because you swore you had your hand in this too" He's become so confused that he's confusing everything with God's will, even something totally small and unrelated, like a sudden wind. Everyone is telling him different things and he doesn't know who to beleive. He wants to say that his own will is God's, and doesn't understand how he could fall in love with someone if she wasn't meant to be "the one," because God promised He would have His hand in every part of our lives. "Cause I'm here wondering what could you be thinking Though I know you're there thinking that I wonder that all the time" He's doubting God and His will for his life, and is a little guilty at doubting God so much. "I can still invade your thoughts when you're not with me Yeah don't mind me I'm just a parasite on your mind Yeah don't mind me I know you're wondering all the time" At this point God's voice comes in again, saying that, even when we deny His voice, He still knows everything we're thinking. When we deny Him, he can't help us in our decisions, but only sit and watch as we deviate from His path for our life. Please tell me if you think I'm right, wrong, stupid, whatever. I want know what you guys think! :) |
