Mastodon – Black Tongue Lyrics 14 years ago
This song reminds me of the story of Judas Iscariot.
To me the "you killed the life" (thought it might have been "light" but works either way) and "Death of the sun" lines may refer to the death of Jesus.
"I sealed them with all of the silver and now I have none" could relate to the 30 pieces of silver Judas was bribed with.
"You can hide but you'll never escape"
Could relate to being unable to escape the guilty feeling of betrayal.
I'm not sure Mastodon wrote this song with this story in mind, but to me the song is about doing something evil and being unable to escape guilty feelings.

sounds like:
You know the devil's in the air

also

We're unwanted strangers,
exploitive & dangerous,

Anyways, i think its about sex. Possibly taking a girl's innocence.
"We came to ruin all, and make a rotten trade
To make you roll over, so roll over"

Yeah i agree with those changes. Too bad, "Part of me wants the wants in life to tickle up in smoke" is a pretty sick lyric.
Great song though, I love that last line. It seems to me like its about a relationship thats dysfunctional because of drug use.

Thats what i felt it was about too. To me thats the key difference between the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, I don't think they were referring to the fact that the Beatles broke up. To me this song is about how our opinions of how to live change and become more tame as we get older.
