I think its about someone that looks up to another person as a role model.
And the "My sweet love I breathe" is perhaps referring to someone that the person cares about, but then they wanted more than that and made things worse by hurting that relationship that they had with that person, so they feel like they're dying on the inside. |

It's about an abusive parent perhaps?
Because the term "sleep well, my angel" suggests that idea.
And I think its where the parent uses abuse to show love. And then realizing what they have done, they leave in order to protect the child from the parent.
But thats just my opinion of the song.

Well personally I love the song, the vocals really come through in this song for me.
I think the song means someone who is thinking that someone they know died and they believe that they are haunting them. Whilst the haunting happens, it brings back maybe painful memories?

Basically this song to me could be about any relationship you could have ( sibling, friend or even parent )
Something you mistakingly say to them hurts more than you thought it would and you would do anything to make it up to them, because you have the emotional guilt inside, and to relieve the pain your feeling for it, you ask the person to forgive you.

If you don't like James voice, you should listen to the live version of this, where it is Metallica playing the song, but King Diamond is singing it. Preferably I prefer the Metallica version of this song, because I personally find King Diamond's voice too high pitched, as I first heard this song by Metallica, but when I heard the original, it threw me off by how it changes pitch, from low to high in parts. |

I think it expresses a friend or loved one that has fallen into a hard time and you just want to let them know that you will be there for them, no matter what.
The conclusion in the song, I think is relating to that person thanking them for being there for them and carrying them when it was tough. |
