so i heard this song on the radio quite a few years ago and liked it but kinda forgot about it..i'm in a play and we needed and intro into a scene with monsters in it and i remembered this song so BAM its back in my life..love it :) i'm actually pretty excited about the rest of these guys songs as well...nice band |

Well not that none of you could be right, but i think these guys' lyrics are a bit more deep than others give them credit for. i can see this being about standing for what you believe in and waiting out the storm that others create around you..to me that would be my faith, the part about all consuming fire just makes me thing God and the rest of that part is like how sometimes you don't realize and don't want to acknowledge His presence in your life but BAM you fall and you realize He's got you anyway. so yep, thats my two cents, about a year late i see but oh well!

Ok so i've loved these guys for a while but just made a songmeanings account so now i shall comment! Honestly, i think this song could be about anything that involves conflict and it'll be different for lots of people. i take the whole thing as sarcastic, kind bashing on society saying how everyone is out for what they want and they'll do anything to get it and they're always saying "don't look in their(the people they're crushing on the way up) eyes" because once they do, they see the trail of hurt they've caused and will feel bad. any way you take it, it's a crazy awesome song and i'm inlove with it. |

Why yes, mooaura, I do...i also commented on "Eyes As Candles"(also possibly To Kingdom Come..lots of confusion for some people there) and i think they're both kinda about the same thing. Basically crying out to God, but this one is more of a recollection of a time when he was in a sad/tight situation and he thought God had let him down, but then he remembers calling His name and the safe, secure feeling of having God there comes over him..the second verse really makes me think of that because of the "i wish for the same old things that turn me inside out", wishing for the feeling of God being right THERE and sensing His power. This faith definitely isn't based on feeling, but it's hard to keep going when there's no sparks there, just like in any other relationship. so i could be completely off, but thats what i'm thinking its about..

Regardless of the song's name, it is an amazing one! and maybe not to everyone, but to me, it's about crying out to God when it seems like He isn't there, which can be alot: "where do you go when i'm around?" the part about wearing the crown really makes me think its about seeking God because in the Bible He is the king and we are his children, therefore princes and princesses, wearing a crown, but he feels unworthy. the second verse is his family encouraging him to keep seeking when it's hard and the end result is dying to the flesh and becoming "flowers" for picking(God's to be used as He chooses). The ending spiel is my favorite, he's telling how he finally found him after he's "waited and waited" and the world has told him "don't bother an inch for another". He's been used to not seeing God in his, and others', lives and "painting his problems" to fit his unhappiness until after "leaning towards a life more caring" he sees what its all about! as i type this it seems very obvious of the meaning so maybe thats why noone has commented on it but hey, i thought i'd share what goes on in this crazy mind! so yeah, sorry if this was pointless haha to end i must say: yay Passion Pit!!! |
