The Reign Of Kindo – Nice to Meet You Lyrics 16 years ago
This song describes a relationship: the inception, the breakup and the loss.

I think the beginning is especially beautiful when he says,

“So I'm surprised to see you with my eyes
When my mind's best dreams
Had left your face so incomplete.”

It perfectly describes that question we sometimes ask ourselves when we meet someone new: “Could THIS be the man/woman of my dreams, the one that I spend the rest of my life with?”

Heartbroken words end the song along with an unresolved, dissonant final chord... brilliant.

The Reign Of Kindo – Great Blue Sea Lyrics 16 years ago
I interpret this song as the singer’s description of death; or more specifically, his prediction (or a possibility) of what he will experience immediately after his death.

“The sea” represents death and physical lifelessness, while “the rays of sunlight” and everything else on the “surface” represent life. He describes the beautiful things that he sees as he makes his “descent” as completely new and fresh experiences: “a color never seen.” He then wishes that he could communicate this new world back to the “surface” to explain to the living what happens when we die, but realizes this is impossible because he can’t “breathe.”

“If I had just one chance I would have
Written a plea from my watery bed
Begging for air so my lungs are fed
My story at large will be lost in the sea
When a man tells his tale he will need to breathe.”

Thus, the mystery of what happens when we die remains exactly that... mystery.
