I interpret this song as a kind of nonexistent relationship. Perhaps I am biased by personal experience, but I believe this song is about someone who is falling in love with someone they barely know, and at first, doing little to nothing about it. But when the other person starts possessing interest in another, in fear of loss, they do try, finally, to express their feelings, but it's too late. "Well you have suffered enough And warred with yourself It's time that you've won." To me, these lyrics are the "someone" admitting that perhaps they should give up all on the other "someone", for they seem pretty happy and it's time that "they've won". |

Why does a song need to be all metaphorical to be deep? And I think it's blunt on purpose. The words she sings are so sharp and straight forward; it meshes oddly with the soft acoustic. However I don't think it's a bad odd, more so just powerful. |
