references to drugs are evident, but the prime meaning of the song is just YOUTH - drugs only relate to youth of then-youngs and Brett´s surround, so this must be there, it´s connected; important is the fact that the youth corresponde to fatigue ("we´re so gone") and there is some desire too - for some escape the video to this song is excellent and proves it I think it´s one of the best songs at all

yes, it´s about sex, not drugs, but if someone wants he can understand it that way... but the prime meaning is heroine, goddess who is the female idol of a young boy who wanks in front of her photo...

it´s a pity this song is not on Sci-fi lullabies! it exquisitely fit to the name of the album (not only for "sci-fi lullaby" in its lyrics but also for the atmosphere and meaning of this song) and to the photo of destroyed plane

I think Brett is playing with parallel of his success and the Jesus coming... very impressive song with apocalyptical feeling ("and when he comes along, we´ll be gone" but also the atmosphere of a dying day in early evening); in the end of the song I hear no "big time" but "pig time" - it would fit to "piggy" single Animal nitrate ("pig" is in Painted people too)

I agree that the first part may be about running from the oppression of a homophobic society, but the second part I think is Brett´s personal and about some desire for running from life he lived, the last section may be pointed at anyone trying something like that - modern boy is who finds the strenght to that and the verse "He's on your left, I'm on your right" may refer to the blessed Trinity and also Brett´s and His ideologic support
