"I asked her if her sister
And her had ever had a threesome
Where they both ganged up on one girl
A fourgy or a fivesome
Do they think strapons are groovy"

Ah these are the truly important questions that need to be asked

NOFX – The Agony of Victory Lyrics 15 years ago
The Agony of Victory is a book about athletes that excelled in their sports, but there's a catch to success. It's like a drug, when someone is driven to succeed they need more and more. Eventually it gets to the point where it controls you and there is just no way to live up to your own expectations anymore. No matter how much money you make or what awards you receive... it doesn't feel like winning anymore. Notice how the song follows, suits and ladders. I'm guessing this song is about someone that was successful at a young age. They made a lot of cash, won awards, but that isn't what they really wanted. In the end he thinks it cost him the things that would have made him happy. Like a lesser Citizen Kane, he just wants his rosebud back. He resents his money and secretly hopes he loses it all, but can't give it up

The first several lines are him telling the people that have never been where he has that they are the real lucky ones. They will never know it, but they are the real winners.

"Satisfaction through the thrill of defeat, aint it sweet?" He wants to lose it all so he doesn't have to worry about responsibility and can be truly free.

"Once you stop yourself from caring About owning stuff, that's when you wanna start sharing" He quit caring about owning things for the sake of owning them. He'd rather give to people that need it, (i'd assume that wanting money to buy things isn't what he means by sharing, if you need a new liver he'd help if you want a new tv you can go fuck yourself)

"All the things we want in life are cheap or free" The things he really enjoys are cheap or better yet free. To spend time with genuine friends, a woman that isn't interested in him for his bank account, listening to music... all cheap or free...

"I define success as not working and I live like a king" He wants to make his money from something he enjoys doing, that way it isn't work anymore it's play. Also he probably doesn't need to work much anymore so long as he is happy with what he already has.

"We've got no competition We've got no accomplished mission" He doesn't want to put up with petty competition, deadlines, and all the other bullshit that comes with the life he thought he wanted. He wants to get away from people that would tear him down in order to get ahead or to feel better about themselves.

"Come on, dance like a retard Life's an endless party not a punch card I don't understand some people's drive Let's just fuck and drink and be alive, not just survive." This sums it all up pretty neatly, Quit caring about what people think and just do what you want (no one gets caught). Spend your time worrying about what you enjoy not about your career. Actually live your life by spending it doing what you love, doing anything less is a waste and not worth it.

Thank you for listening.

NOFX – We Called It America Lyrics 15 years ago
The unions are part of the problem that has lead us to the decline. They demand greater and greater benefits, it was only a matter of time before we sent their jobs overseas. I hate to break it to you, but a proud america union worker is just as good as watching the robots on the assembly line as a poor chinese worker. Whats the difference between the two? One bitches and demands more and more, while the other is grateful to have a fucking job. Production is more mobile than labor, because production has the damn cash to chase down the cheapest markets to do business. They even make factories so that they can be taken apart and shipped to the next damn country. So when the chinese get uppity their jobs will be going to the next third world shit hole. Keeping kids out of factories and in school=good, Safe working conditions=good, 5 day work week= just fine, Trying to bully the boss to get more money than you are worth= fucking myopic

NOFX – All His Suits Are Torn Lyrics 16 years ago
First of all this song is about a guy named billy cobin, not kurt cobain.

People tend to want to know people who are more successful than themselves, more money etc
this is what I think is the idea behind "Wouldnt want to be anyone that would want to know me"
Billy thought he was at the bottom, and if you wanted to know him you were even worse off than he is.

Billy had some success, but "lost his humor" or became depressed. He just didnt live up to his own expectations. Such is the curse of being talented.

"Integrity don't keep you warm and sane" He probably refused to sell out, he demanded success on his own terms and the powers that be loathe people like this.

He probably had schizophrenia, "a baggy man with baggy clothes" he wore baggy clothes and smoked a lot of weed. Schizophreniacs love their weed.

"He lost his molars" he shut down, didnt take care of himself, didnt even brush his teeth, they rotted out and shattered. The molars are at the back and tend to go first. Trust me I know, I have more fake teeth than real ones these days and this happened in my early 20s.

"A face made of paper mache" I used to think this was a reference to an alcoholic's complexion, then I watched Six Feet Under.
"His head planted beneath his shoulders"
"A 7 second fall..." etc
Poor Billy decided to kill himself, I assume he jumped off of something. Not only that but did so head first. A sign that he really wanted to go. His head was probably absolutely destroyed, pushed into his rib cage.

I once met a friend of Billy's at church, we had a long chat about this as well as other things, he told me I reminded him of Billy. This talk meant a lot to me, I told someone else about it... At the time I thought she was pissed at both me and Billy's friend. She's now just doubly pissed at his friend, but I dont think she should be on my account. It really helped me out, put things into perspective, got me moving again, and a few years later I now understand why he was so amused by so many things I said. Also why he looked like he wanted to bitchslap me when I told him a story about my grandfather, sorry about that. Thanks for telling me about this site and now I get the whole Kurt Cobain thing and it is just simply hilarious reading all of these. I moved away from that church, but next time I see you I'll gladly buy you a drink this time.

To the rest of you, next time you see someone with a sullen face, take the time to ask whats wrong, it doesnt matter who they are, you never know.

Ok I suppose we should talk about cargo cult science. There were primitive societies during WWII, that saw people with access to planes and the technology that they air dropped. The war ended and the soldier with their magical technology or 'cargo' went away, but the people on the remote islands remained and wanted to appease the gods of cargo so they built these elaborate edifices that resembled runways and such trying to attract the cargo. None of this worked, but they still made copies. It was like a temple to technology built out of movie props. Sometimes science is a cargo cult, particularly when AI is looked at as the means to solve all our problems. This song made much more sense when someone told me about the Rush. As for Bonnie and Clyde the whole dome Logans run comes to mind, but there are so many stories about domed cities, and a guy and a girl. As I said radioactive dont come near it, the Forbin project had a super computer protected by radiation that took over the world. SMILE TASTE KITTENS, Something like a turing test response or generating a sentence that has no meaning in the sense of Noam Chomsky's work. It could be a kind of a taunt at the whole quest to get the machines to think like people. Telling the AI scientists in Tokyo that the machines will never reach the level of sentience that humans have, we tend to put ourselves at the top. 10001110101 I always thought of as an LED flashing on and off, like a ticking timebomb. 1141 is the number of an LED bulb for the number nuts, the little lights on your modems and just about everything. It tells you the computer is "thinking". We collect the little bits and pieces we think will add up to the answer, and there is a new answer every year, and we just keep arguing about it waiting for our digital god to come and solve all of our problems, giving us a techno-paradise. A place where being king can be handled by lottery like in Harrison Bergeron because machines are solving all the problems and doing all the day to day work, being a king in this land is a joke. But in a Kuhnian sense there is an element resisting, we are having trouble with our new way of looking at the problems when compared to our old ways.

This seems to be the tale of a class 4 probe in the AI hive, or something akin to that. Actually a swarm of class 4 probes working together might be the best way to look at it. The star trek universe has something called a class 4 probe. These probes are basically shot out to study strange things that show up. They are absolutely disposable and the first thing people say when something strange happens is launch a class 4 probe. There are other classes of probe, but who really cares.

It sees an anomaly and has to make sense of it. The parts you probably have problems with are due to you not understanding the actual logic that is involved with AI as opposed to with computers in general.
The lines about zero and one are referring to classical logic or binary.
Now our lil probe has seen something that his lil electronic brain can't handle. Something that does not match any of the graphs it has. This is what the geodesic stasis bit is referring to... being the lil electronic autistic homunculi that they are, they want everything to work out perfectly. Now a perfect graph is a perfect circle, but woe unto our lil disposable buddy this is something he's never seen before so he needs to make it fit. The part about stretching the edge of the rondure is talking about stretching the circle, or exploration making the true part bigger. Instead of breaking he switches to the logic that can make sense of the unknown by comparing it to the known.Taking a good plane and shaving off the edges is talking about the process of making the sense of the anomaly. Orgone is an outdated construct in biology, it basically means lifeforce. To the AIs i assume it is some more tangible thing, a way to distinguish metal machine from meat machine. A fancy way of saying life signs, but i prefer elan vital. The Kaleidoscope program is a bit tricky to explain, first we should explain that we often use colors as examples of varying degrees of truth, white true black false gray indeterminate. All the shades in between these points needs to be taken care of and the answer is vectors. Where the vectors converge is the projected nexus. The crossroads of all the predictions from the different points of view. So Kaleidoscope kind of captures all these ideas of the different facets of a hive mind coming together to figure out something unknown, it really is a brilliant way of describing the inter-subjective process.

The real question is what is the hive looking at? "A colossal liquid insect with legs the size of rockets"

The "Radioactive dont come near it" always reminded me of the book/movie Colossus: The Forbin project.
