Seems like a prayer of sorts in my opinion. Regardless, lovely song. |

| Andrew Belle – Open Your Eyes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Seems like it's about a disfunctional couple and the guy is saying it's never going to work. | |
| Andrew Belle – In Your Sleep Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Andrew Belle is a Christian and I think this song definitely points to that. Nuff said. | |
| Trent Dabbs – Inside These Lines Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This one is easy. It's about a divorce clearly. I think I heard him say that once in an interview. And the music video seems to back it up. It can just is easily be about a fading love. |

| Mat Kearney – Never Be Ready Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
It's either about 2 things... 1. Mat wants to further a relationship and the girl is scared... or... 2. He's trying to bring a friend to Christ or it's partially written from God's perspective I personally think it's number 2 because of a few lines: "This road that is narrow is the one we should follow" "When we don't know, though we can't see" This one sounds like it's from God's perspective... I wouldn't say this to my girlfriend to be honest... "You're OK here with me Here in the silence With all of the violence crashing around" So, it's a simple song and it's open ended. It can be about either one. |

| Mat Kearney – Runaway Car Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I think this is the most raw song on the album and sums up a lot of the themes... Mat said in an interview, "It's also dealing with being scared of falling in love." and that's exactly what I got out of the song. It's definitely a song that resonates with me and did the second I heard it. The line, "If I left you there than I left it all behind" is a wonderful line expressing Mat's emotions and was one of the best lines of the album. |

| Mat Kearney – Fire & Rain Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I don't usually try to make songs sound more Christian then they are but I have a feeling it's based off the prodigal son, in Luke. I don't know if it's a direct reference to it but it definitely has themes based off of it. It can be about a girlfriend, friend, family member, or anything you want it to be. Not sure what Mat had in mind when he wrote it though. | |
| Mat Kearney – City of Black & White Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I love how this song plays with colors. It has a beautiful mood throughout it. "I don't wanna wait until to tomorrow to tell you how I'll feel the rest of my life" is an amazing line. I think it's about him knowing he loves a girl and he needs to simply let her know before she gets away... or something like that. It could mean a million things, really. |

| Mat Kearney – Straight Away Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This one is tough but I think it's quite clear. I think it's about a girl Mat was with and they never fully let everything out. He's obviously in love with this girl and he wants to communiticate these feelings to her and wants her to feel the same but something is holding her back, like something that happened in the past. He let this girl get away, "If I was wrong would you show me/Where ALL that I LOST can be found." and he wants to find his way back to her heart. I honestly believe this is the same girl that reappears in Runaway Car, On & On, Here We Go, and possibly Never Be Ready, if it's actually about a girl. All these songs have extremely similar themes and go pretty well together. It's clear that Mat has gotten his heart broken MANY times... by the same girl. |
