This song was never even considered to be put in any of the Twilight movies... there was just a rumor going around that it was because she talks about werewolves in it. But think about it... this song has nothing to do with the Twilight series. Bella doesn't feel trapped in her relationship with Edward, and besides, she's not a werewolf. The line is even better in Spanish... "Llevo conmigo un radar especial para localizar solteros" which translates to "I bring with me a special radar to locate single men". It just sounds cooler in Spanish imo. :) |

Many people have already commented on this so I think there's already a good consensus about the meaning of this song. My interpretation is this: a woman falls in love with a married man and is considering hooking up with him even though she knows he has a wife. "Mary had a lamb his eyes black as coals if we play very quiet, my lamb Mary never has to know" The above lyrics are an obvious allusion to cheating. The "lamb" is the husband, and "Mary" is the wife. If the woman "plays very quiet" (i.e. has sex) with the "lamb", then "Mary" (the wife) never has to know. The woman doesn't want a real relationship from the man; she just wants a hook up: "You don't remember my name I don't really care" The woman doesn't seem to feel very guilty about sleeping with a married man. She justifies that she can "lose control" once in her life. "just once in my life I think it'd be nice just to lose control- just once with all the pretty flowers in the dust" To me, the part about the pretty flowers in the dust implies that the woman doesn't want an emotional connection to the man, just a physical one. She doesn't want him to to buy her flowers, because that's an emotional gesture; she wants him to leave the emotional part of the relationship "in the dust". At the end of the song, she says: "if I cut you down to a thing I can use I fear there will be nothing good left of you" I think in the end, she is having second thoughts about hooking up with the guy. She fears that if she hooks up with him, she will "ruin him"; he will no longer be a good person because he cheated on his wife. It is also possible that she realizes that she might not be interested in him anymore after they hook up, because he will no longer be innocent, which is what attracted her to him in the first place. In summary, my interpretation of this song is this: A woman is fantasizing about hooking up with a married man and wants so badly to be able to "lose control" and just do it. However, she also feels guilty about the idea and as such is struggling to figure out what she's going to do. |

I think this song is about a woman who fell for a guy because he was cute and hooked up with him even though she suspected he might be a player. "You were like one of those guys The kind with a wandering eye But I said, 'hey what the hell, once in my life I'll take a ride on the wild side' You were so full of yourself But damn, were you cute, as well" They hook up and sometime later she realizes that he's married. "How blind a girl can be To miss you hide your ring" The song implies that they hooked up for a long time before she realized he was married, and that she regrets what happened between them. "And all the mistakes That went on for too long Wish there was a way I could delete it" So basically my interpretation of this song is this: a woman falls in love with a guy and later realizes that he's married and as such, she has no future with him. She's upset but is positive about choosing better relationships in the future: "But I'm sure that this is nothing but a phase 'Right back at ya,' cause I'll survive" |
