OK to get conversation started on this track, here we goooooo... "I'm so appalled, spalding ball" Ok maybe this is crazy but i think it's a reference to his life after the taylor swift incident. he was a CASTAWAY (yeah that's right bitches like the tom hanks movie) and he has nothing left (hence spalding ball) BEST LINE EVER "Housekeeping I mean goddamn, one time let it be a bad bitch sweeping" YUPPPP ANOTHER GOOD LINE HAHA "Five-star dishes, different exotic fishes" OH HERE IS ANOTHER ONE "I went from the favorite to the most-hated" What's Jay-Z talking about here? Anyone know??? "And Hammer went broke so you know I'm more focused" I think this should be: "The handle went broke so you know I'm more focused" because it's fucking dumb to rhyme "Hammer" with "Hammer" (and this makes more sense) PUSHA T KILLED THIS TRACK, his entire verse is awesome but here is a highlight: "A half a mil in twenties's like a billion where I'm from" And these lines will always be overlooked: "I keep the city's best, never said she was the brightest So if you had her too, don't effect me in the slightest I never met a bitch that didn't need a little guidance So I dismiss her past until she disappoints Your Highness" By the way CYHI sucks on this track and RZA KILLED (even though he didn't rap, he helped w/ production) |

Maybe it's just me but i always thought it was clever, the first time it sounds like (since you can easily hear the 'd') "Underneath the budding/bodhi tree, That is where she brought me..." the second time it sounds like (since there is harder to hear a 'd') "Underneath the burning tree, That is where she brought me..." obviously this would mark the passage of time (budding/bodhi -> burning) and this would make the refrain important to the song. It marks the progression from creation to destruction and the clever thing is they hid this in words that sound nearly identical. It now seems like this wasn't intended, but when i first heard it I thought they were geniuses (But notice, they do the same thing with 'bound/found' which also sound nearly identical but twist the meanings in a similar way) |
