Lady GaGa – Hair Lyrics 14 years ago
I'm glad someone else was able to make the same conclusions I came too with this song. I agree, many people write the song off because it seems so childish, but if you think about it a person's hair is such a main link to their self-identity. People put SO much emotion into it, look at the way certain girls burst out into tears when you cut their hair. It makes me think of the Buddhist idea of hair, that it is VANITY. That's why they shave their heads.
But ultimately, hair is something that always grows back. When Lady GaGa equates herself to her hair she is saying that her identity is as flexible as her hair, as all hair is. It is a ultimately a statement that I am, and yet am not, my hair.
What a beautiful message to interweave into a song directed directly at teenagers and young adults who strive to utilize their hair in creative ways as identity markers. I remember how upset I'd get when my family would discourage me to dye my hair blue, or whatever else I wanted to do with it. It was so important to me. Our hair is so important to us, and yet it's as equally important for us to realize how unimportant it really is.

She performed "Hair" on the piano on a British talk-show where she was "bald" and her wig was sitting in front of her. Absolutely beautiful, brought tears to my eyes.

Lady GaGa – Marry the Night Lyrics 14 years ago
It's about marrying yourself to your loneliness, aka the night. "I'm a soldier to my own emptiness." It's about exploring every dark corner of your soul that might be scared to venture, "leave nothing on these streets to explore." And it's about accepting those dark places in yourself that you might initially want to reject, "But I won't cry anymore / I hold my whiskey up high / kiss the bartender twice / I'm a loser."

So, in this sense, it's about marrying yourself to your creativity, never letting go of that thing that inspires you no matter what, "turn the car on and run."

This is my meaning and interpretation.

Florence + the Machine – Drumming Song Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the lines "Sweeter than heaven, And hotter than hell" are a reference to the horrific nature and places that love can take us, but, so-to-say, also one of sweetest emotions in life. That it is, at it's best, a difficult burden to carry.

Florence + the Machine – Drumming Song Lyrics 15 years ago
I would disagree with the view that this song is about lust, I believe very strongly that this song was written about the all consuming nature of love, and the attempt to retain an individual personhood, when not only the natural inclination of love is towards a unification, but ultimately that one can only truly claim love is through complete subjugation to it.
But what this song explores and exposes is that love, is by no means, a kind master. Ultimately it is a monstrous creature that takes little regard towards ones own wishes and desires. The images and language seems to be drawn from religious descriptions of Divine Love. But, as most of the religious prophets and enlightens have noted, the "true" God is that of Love, and those who do service and live in love's survice ultimately worship and do service to it, not matter what the name or form it has taken.

Lady GaGa – Monster Lyrics 16 years ago
She's referenced herself in songs before. In poker face she goes "LoveGame, intuition, play the cards with spades to start." Or however it goes.

Lady GaGa – Monster Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is about her fear of men. She said in an interview that, up until now, she's kinda viewed men as "monsters," and in other interviews she said she's never experienced love [the "true" kind] before, and that the reason she's given her heart and soul over to music and art is because her art would would never get up in the morning and leave her.

I think this song also might be an ode to her fans. Her fans being hers little "Monsters," whom have eaten her heart, and her brain. We wanna "just dance" with her.

Whatever the song's about, it's hot as well, and I think it should be her 3rd single.

Lady GaGa – Dance in the Dark Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is actually her "Fear of Fame."

Dance in the dark, I think, is about how all these "celebrities" are trying to lead their private lives, and go through the ups-and-downs that come with living, and how when they're falling apart, and are at their worse, the media come clamoring in because they want to watch them fall and fail.

I think this song is GaGa saying what fame REALLY means to her, and I think she's telling us that, ultimately, she's questioning weather this fame will, in the end, kill her.

Lady GaGa – I Like It Rough Lyrics 16 years ago
Wow, you people ARE rather thick. Yes, even you more diamond person. Which, by-the-way, I think is the most ludicrous interpretation of this song yet.
As has been said, this song is certainly on one level about like "rough sex."
However, I believe the true meaning of this song is GaGa professing her...preference to the drug cocaine.

"Won't go without my fix tonight
It's a little too rough
Prom girl wipes her tears with silver lines
And she can't get enough"

Are you kidding me? My "fix"? "Prom queen [ms. gaga] wipes her tears with silver lines?" Come on, does she have to spell it out for you people. Oh wait, she goes further with, "Don't know why you wanna BLOW it."

This is her cocaine song, and I LOVEEEEE it :-D
