Ive forgotten this song for a while, it's always good to remember. One of my favourites, I love the imagery. I was hoping for more comments to read but oh well, Aussie bands. Can someone teach me this on guitar please? |

i definitely agree that the first line in Disillusion (loneliness is a power...) is that we have the power to kill or love. |

| Talking Heads – Stay Up Late Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
it is about people who think having children is all about enjoyment. almost as if it's a sport. the people in the song have no appreciation of the enormous responsibility at hand. that being said, the child can easily stand as a metaphor. |

| Placebo – Peeping Tom Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I agree. but i have an interesting idea to add... the gap between an internet addict, their habits and a peeping tom, really isn't that wide. especially in this day and age. maybe more people could relate than they realize. best not to realize. |

| Them Crooked Vultures – Scumbag Blues Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think this song is about artists that exploit naive, impressionable people with work that glorifies and exaggerates their own pessimism. Under a guise of wisdom trusting fans alter their perspective so that eventually their personality, rather than seek-out things to relate to, adapts to the music/lyrics (in this case). ...And so the spider catches the fly. |

| Silversun Pickups – Little Lover's So Polite Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Honestly, it sounds like a relationship that revolves around a guy that just doesn't feel he's "enough". The lead vocals are third person. The bridge (nikki's part) is first person. 'little lover's so polite' Too polite. (can't find the self esteem to address his needs/have an opinion in the relationship) The 'third person/observer' uses the image of bad kissing as a metaphor for the general direction the relationship is heading 'tell me did the bones [teeth] collide' Then he asks who in the relationship was at fault: 'who let the bones collide' Then he asks, rhetorically (because the observers, or should i say 'Listeners' all know the answer by now) 'why did the bones collide' replace with: was it because the girl objected what the guy "didn't" bring to the relationship or because he let it affect the way he acted in the relationship? -- It's funny, because it could have also been about a girl minus the condom reference. (good spotting appleshampoo) and I enjoyed your interpretation Brachiosaurus! |

| Violent Femmes – Children of the Revolution Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
An optimistic anticipation of balance! I reckon this song is a condemning wealthy and powerful people, warning that the 'high' times aren't going to last as there will be no escaping a revolution. But the "enjoy it while you can" message is definitely caustic and should serve to undermine the integrity of such people. |
