I love this song, it's brilliant! 'Batsheba' is a reference to the old testament: "The wife of Uriah, who committed adultery with David" Here's my interpretation of the song, it may and most likely not be the right one of course, but this is what it means to me:

"The way you're dancing Makes me come alive Makes me shiver and perspire Your surreptitious glancing The way you crack a smile You really start a fire"

"The way you're moving Hips from side to side Makes you all that I desire Batsheba of my choosing, I'm so unsatisfied You got what I require"

To me, these verses imply that the guy/persona is at a party/night club, and has caught sight of this girl dancing who he is attracted to and wants to fuck.

"So move closer I want to feel your touch So come over Come on"

This pretty much supports what I said above, but in a more sexual way.

"Love of mine This fortress in our heart Feels much weaker Now we're apart Love of mine This fortress in our heart Comes crashing down"

This could imply that the guy is already in a relationship with a girl, who he loves a lot, but because she's not at the party ("Now we're apart"), the strong affection he has for his girlfriend("Fortress"), means nothing ("feels much weaker") as he's attracted to the dancing girl. "This fortress in our heart Comes crashing down" implies that he's gonna take the risk in fucking this girl.

"I need a change of skin I need a change"

This could mean 2 things. One could mean that the guy wishes to forget about who he is for the night, and pretend to be someone else, someone new like how a snake would shed it's skin. Or the other meaning could be that he's gonna fuck her and he needs a Condom.

Well there's my interpretation of this song; a guy cheats on his girlfriend at a party/night club and has a one night stand with a random girl. :)

I love the reference to Bathsheba. In the bible, David was king he could have any single girl he wanted but he gave into temptations and desire regardless of the consequences (God killing his first child) Likewise, Brian is in a successful band (like really he's basically a king) and could easily screw a random groupie or girl in a club. The consequences (ruining his current relationship aren't his concern because he's overwhelmed with desire) It's not just about wanting someone to hook up with randomly, it's the fact that it's dangerous but he can't help himself. They lyrics carry a tone of confidence, borderlining on arrogant...but afterall he is king

'I need a change of skin' is basically saying that he wants someone else to satisfy his sexual desires.

He's in a relationship ('Love of mine'), but the further he gets himself caught into watching this other girl dancing, the weaker the love gets that he holds for his partner until it finally doesn't matter to him anymore: 'This fortress in our heart comes crashing down' because 'The way you're moving, hips from side to side makes you all that I desire'.

The song is really obvious: 'Bathsheba of my choosing, I'm so unsatisfied And you've got what I require' meaning he's sexually unsatisfied and she'S the woman he needs because she got the hips.

I've just been listening to the album on their website and firstly can I say WOW! This album is definitely no disappointment after Meds. But yeah, Ive got a couple of lyrical corrections so I'll just post them as I go :P. (Also, thanks for submitting the lyrics btw)

"Nearly start a fire" ..should be: "You really start a fire"

"Makes me start to sigh" ..should be: "Hits from side to side"

"I shiver off my jeans and I'm so unsatisfied You're all that I require" ..should be: "Batsheba of my choosing, I'm so unsatisfied You got what I require"

I also don't think any of the "hearts" in the chorus are meant to be plural. It makes sense to have a single "heart" shared between two people, to emphasize the fragility of their intimacy when the two are "apart".

ahhhhh my boys are baccckk (L) i like the new steve. from what i've seen in interviews he is reallly enthusiastic. it's nice and fresh :) when Brian sings "perspire" i get shivers down my spineee.

Anyway. This is song is pretty basic. It's about desire and wanting someone lotsss ;) love it. xoxo
