| Dream Theater – Finally Free Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I left out a part, the therapist said "open your eyes, Nicholas" and then killed him to cover up the fact that Edward, acting though the therapist, was the murderer. | |

What happens, and this makes total sence, but the way the last few events take place are as follows- Edward kills Julian and Victoria, and places the note on Julian's body. Nicholas finds this out and discribes it to the therapist. The therapist then realizes that he is Edward's reincarnation, and lets Nicholas go home. Nicholas drives home, and turns on the news; which is the report of John F. Kennedy Jr's death, which places this around July 1999 (although the past's exact time is unknown, but can be guessed to be around the 60s) The therapist sneaks his way into Nicholas' house, walks up behind him and says the words "open your eyes, Nicholas" which lets us know that the therapist is, in fact, Edward because thoes were the words that Edward (the therapist in his past life) said to Victoria (Nicholas in his past life) right before he shot her. |

| Dream Theater – The Glass Prison Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It actualy is linked to other songs. Its one in a 5 part series in which Mike Portnoy covers each of the AA's 12 steps, the songs are... 1. The Glass Prison 2. This Dying Soul 3. The Root of All Evil 4. Repentance 5. The Shattered Fortress |

Anybody else think Portnoy got a little lazy on the musical side of this song. I know how this is the last of a 5 song suite where it covers each of the 12 steps of AA. Dont get me wrong I thought it was pretty badass of a song, they all were, but it just seems kinda cheep to simply copy and paste parts from different songs onto this song. Fateful ascent Through darkest fires I've found the path To take me higher -from The Glass Prison Keep all of me The desires that once burned me deep inside Help me live today And help to give me grace To carry out your ways I am ready Help me be all I can be I am ready Help guide me and keep me free -from Root of All Evil Very end of song was part from the song Octavarium, then it stopped and it had the drum beats from the intro of The Root of All Evil Not to mention its littered with other little tidbits from other songs... but hey, it did sound pretty cool. |

| Lamb of God – Beating On Death's Door Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song is just WAY to obviously about drugs, heroine in particular. "She's a slack one, born of greed. Speaking endless words, long and empty." People tend to go limp when using heroine and talk jibberish "endless words, long and empty" "There's blood stain on the ceiling" It is very likely that when you inject yourself if you do not tie the tourniquet correctly when you stick the needle in the vein blood will shoot out and end up on the ceiling. "Your destiny lies in the alley below." Quite obvious, most drug addicts will be washed up in the alleys. "When all else fails, she tolds you with broken arms. There's poison in her veins, but the bitch comes for free, A quick fix for all that you think that you need." Use of "she" implys heroine "There's no shoulder left to cry wolf on, You're tied in knots that can't be undone. No more warnings will fall on deaf ears, You lied too many times now no one cares. No one cares." They will tell lies to family, friends, co-workers (if they still work) and anybody else just to get some money, eventualy they will run out of people to "cry wolf on" "Her crooked smile beguiles and it draws you within. The hope for something more, all that you wish for, A kick to the head and a boot to the door." The use of "her" is refrence to heroine which is actualy the name for a female hero. The rest is about how it tempts them with there wildist dreams and ends up kicking them square in the nads. "A paper trail ends in choking smoke. But you know that you lit the match yourself." "A paper trail" being a joint, that "ends in choking smoke" because the smoke you inhale is, for lack of better words, choking. |

| Dream Theater – Sacrificed Sons Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Thats one of Dream Theater's things. There use of recuring melodies and what not, or my favorite thing they did with Octavarium, in the sence that it is all one big circle, And that in fact the whole album, all 1 hour and 14 minutes of it is one long song, that is tied together by the last note of the song Octavarium and the first note of The Root of All Evil are the same note, giving you the sence that it is an unstopable circle of events. If you want to go for an easter egg hunt go look at that song! | |

| DevilDriver – Tirades Of Truth Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song fits in perfectly with the rest of Last Kind Words (and even gets the name from this song) and explains why our human nature is the way it is, which is why we are so destructive to everything and everyone around us including ourselves. Before I begin 2 things need to be said that “tirades” basically means to rant or protest about something in an angry manner, and that I’m not some religious nut, and can barley even call myself Christian. The whole first stanza is what I believe to be our creator’s thoughts on how we are “reaping the wind though this mortal shell, in the wake of destruction this will not fail” meaning that we kind of go about our own things aware of our impending doom, and that faced with it we will accept it. “Walking with shadows” means that he will be among us without us knowing it, “feeding the spirits though divine intervention” He lets us know that there is something to believe in, or “feeds” the spirits (the spirits being us) by every now and again comming into play with natural things and the only explainable answer is that it was the hand of God. Then the chorus comes in, which a small way contradicts itself. The tirade in this case is God condemning man kind to the middle ground, or earth (below heaven, and above hell), but it is also referred to as “the last kind words ever said” which tells us two things, he meant for our banishment to be a good thing because we ended up in the middle and not in hell, and that it is the last time he will come in direct contact with mankind. The next part I personally think whoever got the lyrics got them wrong and it says “the roads THROUGH temptation” and “but the human SPIRIT can soar”. Now this part is the narrator saying that our lives our filled with temptation and because of which it’s filled with danger and a threat to wellbeing at every step. But it’s because of our soul, the thing that makes us human (which is also why there is temptation) allows us to overcome the temptation and the afore mentioned dangers. |

| DevilDriver – Sin & Sacrifice Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I d have to agree with Millertron on this one. All the religion and drugs (drugs, being a subsection of the true meaning) stuff doesn’t really fit the message of DevilDriver. Being that were all human, which means it’s our nature to do evil things, destroy everything we touch, and will eventually pay for our crimes against nature and our fellow man via death (at least that’s the piece of the puzzle that is The Fury of Our Maker's Hand.) This song fits in perfectly with this album, describing why we all do evil "Tempting me. Tempting you. Tempting us in all we do." and we suffer the consequences day in day out "Regrets, night sweats, occasional thoughts of suicide" The whole 3rd stanza describes about how at the end of each day we are tormented by our guilty consciousness "Lost sleep, count sheep. Can’t seem to get my mind off of things. Toss and turn, candles burn. Grinding teeth at night endlessly" is the narrator describing how he is haunted by memories of sins committed. He repeatedly says "It’s a long, long way between sin and sacrifice" which iv interpreted as a time line, sin, obviously being the sins we commit, and sacrifice is our death. The sacrifice of our lives frees us of our guilty consciousness, and we can finally rest in peace. Note that he says "I’m burning internally!" meaning that the narrator is constantly feeing a burning within (possibly a reference to the human soul) and then rephrases it the 3rd repetition saying “I’m burning infernally” which infers that the pain he feels is some sort of divine retribution. In the 1st and 3rd stanza he says “Old habits die hard, and I’ve lived so fast, and I know it’s a long way down.” Old habits being habitual sins the narrator and all humans do without think of (i.e. using the Lords name in vain). By “I’ve lived so fast” he might mean that because life goes by so fast and the habits “die hard” we do them almost all of our lives before we break it, sometimes never breaking them in general. “…and I know it’s a long way down” is he saying that he does these things knowing that it (Hell) is well to say the least, not a pleasant place. |

| DevilDriver – Bear Witness Unto Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| im not sure why but the first thing to comes to mind when i think about this song is a bank robery, never the less when i think about it long and hard i have to agree with the comments above this one and say its mostly about a normal person just snaps under the pressure of it all and just raises hell, or about raising hell in general | |
| Arch Enemy – Taking Back My Soul Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| If you would listen to Arch Enemy more you would realize a recuring patter... revolution from the generalized and esentialy mind washing public. As for this song they use short, 1-4 word sentences to discribe this person of there subject, an anarchist one might believe "Processed, Diluted, Virtually unrecognizable, Tranquilized, Scruntinized, Hate injected mind." Then she throws out "I was lost there - a scattered void. No direction." saying that they simply live day to day in an ignorant bliss doing virtualy nothing with "no direction". Then the fore mentioned person snapped to and realized that this isnt what life is suposed to be like, and demands there soul, or identity back, and the lack of which is slowly and undetectably killing them "As if internal wounds wouldn't bleed, wouldn't hurt me." | |
| DevilDriver – Teach Me to Whisper Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I have to pretty much agree with synisterocker on the majority of it but imo its not exactly correct. you need to read it as a whole from top to bottom. You cannot let yourself be consumed completly by anger and hatred, or you will in turn lose yourself "spare your spirit". And take note that the way he words things "Another day, another decision. One that eventually affects us both. Teach me to whisper, cause I feel like screaming" its almost as if hes talking one on one with sombody else, that sombody else being his inner self, his consiousness. And that you need to listen to your inner voice so that you may, in his terms, wisper and not scream. | |
| DevilDriver – Pure Sincerity Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
In short i believe that this song is about conforming to the generalized public to the point that you begin to lose your own identity and take on a new persona. Note that he says "Give 'em what they want. Give 'em what they want." and the change in pace and plain out flat mood of the song when he says "The things I am, The things that I've become..." becomes faster and more intense, and not to mention he says "Don't know if I can stand, Where I once fucking stood, If I could, if I could, Don't you think I fucking would!" meaning that he has completly lost touch of his true self. |
