The Veronicas – Everything Lyrics 16 years ago
To quote Lisa "It's about wanting someone you shouldn't, we've all been there" - as the poster above said, it's about one girl wanting her friend who also happens to be a girl. Her feelings are all over the place, wondering if it's right or wrong and moreover wondering if her friend feels the same way.

The Veronicas – Insomnia Lyrics 16 years ago
I think that Lisa raps the first verse and Jess raps the second verse. I can hear a change in the tone in the second verse from the first verse, and it sounds like Lisa in the background. Also, the way 'maniac' is said sounds a lot like Jess' style of singing. There is a definite change in the tone though, which does lead me to think that it is changing to Jess.

Anyway, it's about not being able to sleep due to this guy that's left her, she's trying to deny that she liked him, but she's lonely and she wants to be around other people.

In the second verse it sounds a lot angrier, much harsher - originally I saw this as being a response to the guy who's contacting her or trying to get back with her and she isn't interested, but I thought of another possible theory. In verse one she says "Can’t stop to think about what you said, you said to me when" Implying that she doesn't want to think about what he said to her, perhaps it was too terrible for her to want to think about - could verse two be what he said to her? It's angrier in words and tone, (a possible different singer to show a different person?) and he thought she was controlling him, he had enough and told her that he's leaving her, going to an underground rave (or something similar) and that he really doesn't want her to follow - threatening her in the process.

Perhaps finally I am reading too much into this but: "Gotta feel the rush in my veins" - could that be a possible drugs/alcohol reference? Going to a party and forgetting what's happened with some outside intervention?

Great song.

The Veronicas – Don't Say Goodbye Lyrics 16 years ago
I see this song as a follow up to All I Have, as the previous poster said, it's about someone who cheated on her boyfriend (like in All I Have) - "I know what I did to you" - and this is what happened a short while after the events detailed in All I Have. In other words, they tried to get back to normal after she cheated, it didn't work out and now she's fighting to save what's left.

Great song, bonus track on the UK version of 'Hook Me Up' and on the 'This Love' EP

Paramore – Brick by Boring Brick Lyrics 16 years ago
I personally see this song as a girl that has developed a form of 'Escapism' (basically a diversion, sometimes through imagination and sometimes through things such as books, video games, which also link with imagination, from the real world mostly due to being unhappy with life in general) and Hayley (that's the singer) is trying to get her to come out of her created world and back into the real one.

Going in depth to a few, more untouched parts:

"She lives in a fairy tale" - I personally thought this was referring to books rather than just imagination, since my logic has it that most fairy tales are found in books.

"It's all about the exposure, the lens, I told her
The angles were all wrong now" - I perceive this as Hayley telling the girl that life is how she makes it, how she looks at it - telling her to start looking at life in a more positive way, seeing the good things about it instead of just seeing the negative things.

"She's ripping wings off of butterflies" - Originally I saw this as the destruction of something seen as beautiful, her world of magic in this case. However, I got thinking about this line and I'm thinking it's a metaphor for the girl accepting change and destroying (maybe not literally destroying) her books. Really, it could even be a metaphor for both ideas.

"Well, you built up a world of magic, Because your real life is tragic" - this line alone got me thinking escapism, seeing as that is basically what it is.

"Well, if it's not real,
You can't hold it in your hand,
You can't feel it with your heart,
And I won't believe it,
But if it's true,
You can see it with your eyes,
Oh, even in the dark,
And that's where I want to be, yeah" - Basically Hayley is telling the girl how great reality is compared to fiction. I get a sense that Hayley is talking about being with someone you love, the mention of feeling with your heart. Though I'm not sure on that.

This song is very well written, and brilliantly sung. The whole message to it (getting out of escapism back into the real world) will relate to a lot of people, and I think it is a very good message to get out there.

The Veronicas – Faded Lyrics 16 years ago
Originally, this song was written by the Veronicas, but passed the song onto Kate DeAraugo, which Cascada covered later.

I can see a similarity to Everything I'm Not in this song, the difference being that she actually did change into what the guy wanted and her individuality and real self has 'faded'.
