It's about a guy and he's getting his heart broken over and over. Now his current girlfriend is breaking his heart and he's thinking to himself. "well if the clothes make the man then the moths make the holes and it shows yes it shows by the shape the hole grows" the women in his past have continued to break his heart. its making him emotionally numb and it showing in his way of thinking... "so if early man really did mate with neanderthal then modern man is a mix of beastial sex" If we're almost the same then it wouldn't be bad right? i think this is like a random thought type line, like what if? "if you ain't sweet to me ill dessert you in a heartbeat if you don't savor me ill salt you, make you savory" if you ain't good to me, im gonna leave you. if you don't savor me, i'm gonna to make you savor me. "if the boy keeps hitting his head against the dash of the car will the horsefly leave his ear or will the blood make it hard?" if the same things keep happening over and over with his relationships will it ever change or will he become emotionally numb to it.. "if sequencing genes brings them back to breed will we get along with them?" kinda explains its self. "when the sky finally falls if you're holding me I can die finally knowing it ends peacefully." but in the end just as before, he continues to stay with his girlfriend. He knows it will bring more pain and hurt, but maybe this time it will end well, maybe it will be different. That's my guess, It's kinda like what "If"? I love input, give me your ideas!!! |

| I honestly think most islands songs have layers... Its possible you're all right! maybe the obvious meaning is a more African/diamond theme and the deeper meaning would be the relationship/he's a rough gem theme? | |

maybe Hes talking about shooting up listening to foreigner and being a foreigner himself... "Fall in, fall in, fall in, no one will know Go on, fall in, no one will know" maybe looking at the needle wanting it but still hesitant... "Hold on, foreigner, on you go" possibly talking to the record telling it to hold on when he soots up... "Heard it all, I've heard it all but it won't hurt at all." the needle telling him yeah I know what you heard but its ok, it wont even hurt. "Shy away, shy away, but don't try to get away" then the needle tells him he may be hesitant but he will still do it... "Turn me on a rousing song for sympathetic ears" the record is saying play me! I always cheer you up. "No one cares, no one's there and you, you disappear" but he says no, nobody cares and you just drift off (when he shoots up) "Fall in, fall in, fall in, no one will know Go on, fall in, no one will know" hes telling himself to go on and do it nobody will know... "Left behind, left behind, left behind" maybe he feels alone in a foreign land. Well, that might be it, I might be crazy to think that he would be "talking" to these things but its kinda like havin an argument with yourself or maybe an argument with your addiction and your conscience is saying "no!" but the drugs win... Ok I just did that really quick so it looks pretty bad but let me know what you think, I love to hear other ideas! |

I think its about a guy who breaks up with his girlfriend and she keeps his dog! "I'll be your wave, carrying you to shore, And if your ribs are peeking through your fur, I'll feed you some more, I rode out of the city without you in my arms" He loves His Dog more then anything and feels empty with out it. "Under the moonglow I was a windblown, cast down, carved out watermelon, Without you in my arms, Without you in my arms, And he thinks of the memories he has with the dog and he explains his feeling like hes stranded on an island because his best friend isn't by his side... Maybe? I would love to hear any other ideas! |
