this song, pretty much word for word, describes how i have felt at times in the past few years. The last line, "hopeless love, why did you carve your home in me, this broken heart, is too weak to hold your weight, and now i regret, the day, we, met," gets me every, single, time. I don't know a person who can't identify with this song, and if someone can't, then they have no soul. I hold this song incredibly close to my heart, and this is an incredible song for anyone who feels a heartbreak so strong that they don't know quite how to put it into words. Beautiful. |

This song is about his insecurities, and the flaws that he wishes he could hide, "like when shadows disappear in twilight." He's been searching for something that can "soothe" his insecurities and fix his flaws, but everything he's tried has lead him to desolation. Then he talks about how he tries to fix himself in a metaphorical darkness, so probably in his own brain, but he can see "her" every little mistake because she leaves herself out in the open, metaphorically speaking. The line "and it's getting so much harder to accept, the fact that i am stuck here," seems to be him saying that it's getting so much difficult for him to accept his flaws, and that he's stuck as an imperfect person. Then the last lines are so haunting it gives me goosebumps. I can't hide from my own eyes, i can't hide from my own. said once, it's not all that cool, but when he repeats it in the song, it gets more powerful each time, saying that he, or we can't hide from the judgement's of our own eyes. |

I think the song is about sacrifice and deception. "we gave our lives, to learn how to fly on our own," I think is talking about how we try so hard to be individuals in this world, we try so hard to be unique. This line can be taken very seriously, like i think of Kurt Cobain, who "literally" gave his life to be his own person, someone that wasn't fake or copied. Or you could take it with a more passive meaning, such as that we try so hard to be a unique "individual" that we "give" or devote our lives to it. "only to find out that the edge of all we've known, it was just a painted sky," which is an awesome lyric btw, says that we make this sacrifice, we try so hard, only to find that all that we were working towards was just a painted sky, a picture, "a clever disguise to make the heavens reflect in our eyes," which i find to be a hauntingly beautiful lyric, because it says that we were deceived by the painted sky, that cleverly reflected the "heavens," in our eyes, that provided us inspiration. Beautiful song, short (and possibly for a reason), but awesome. |

I think the song is about a relationship, and the plane is the metaphor for the relationship. The line "we flew over the cascades, we were forced to behave while we sat, in rows like children," i believe is alluding to the beginning of the relationship and how everything was beautiful and they were "well behaved," or didn't fight. Then when he "crossed some standard state lines" i would say that means that he's venturing into new territory in his relationship and the last line of the first verse says that now they're over the "beautiful" part of their relationship and they're now in fights and problems with each other like one's they've never known. I think the beast represents the facade of love. "i saw a dim light, at the mouth of the beast, so i followed it in, it's too late to retreat, it swallowed me whole," is saying that he was enticed by the "light" of love, but when he entered he instead found a beast with wings that ruined everything because he "failed to cut its neck." This is an amazing song, kenny choi is a lyrical genius. |
