@oceaneyes - Thanks for contributing in great detail. I do think you missed the meaning of this part a little though. "Circle me and the needle moves gracefully back and forth, If my heart was a compass, you’d be North" This whole line is about a compass, he's talking about how it works. The "needle" is the needle of the compass which always points North. "Circle me and the needle moves gracefully back and forth" he's suggesting that he is stationary and she is the one moving, but everywhere she goes "the needle" (his heart) follows her gracefully. "If my heart was a compass, you’d be North" is the best line in the whole song (in my opinion) just because it instantly gives you such a good mental image of just how much she means to him. |
