I think the ordinary world is just a burden for him and all that surrounds him has no sense. That's is why he wants to leave and put all behind. I guess there is a girl who tie him here and he is trying to persuade her with the song...saying that there's no sense in living waiting for money or things that he sees in live with no meaning.
This is a deeper reflexion of what's important in life. |

As some people here already commented, this song talks about French Revolution (1830)or July Revolution in which, Bourbon Monarchy was swept. The picture of the album is the famous painting of the situation lived in Paris. The chorus is just (I think) saying that the king is death and he knows he is not going to heaven because of his tyranny. The same thing I think we should have done long time before in Spain, not mean to kill the king but of course sack the entire royal family to hell!!! |

I read some comments and see how this song touches everyone diferent, for me this band it's nice but more in music than lyrics. Lyrics are quite goods but so so sad. I don't know what this boy have been passing trough but however we all have problems and bad situation and we should never loose positive thinking.

Yes, Corcovado "The Christ of Corcovado" is a huge statue in Rio de Janeiro in one hill. I think Ben Harper wants to transmit the powerful vision of being under his feets. When I was there I got shocked it's amazing, the city as well. |

When B.M. was shot down he was considered a really dangerous figure for USA political and economical interest in Central America. As USA policy during the almost last 70 years has been focuses in spread capitalism trough the world and its way of life B.M. as other great resistant like Che Guevara were tried to be killed by CIA. CIA trained and financed army to their interest either maintaining one government or fighting against. In other B.M. song he said. "Rasta don't work for no, C.I.A" the song it's RAT RACE. So this episode was the interest of USA to maintain their economical imperialism system in the region. (Please a just talk about USA politician not citizens) |

First of all I would like to say that this is a Bob Marley's song covered by Ben Harper and of course it's obviously talking about smoking Jah herb. In my opinion pleople take so serious this thing and this song it's just saying you can do whatever you want if don't harm anybody so why we should take as religious discussion. Ben harper has covered other Bob Marley's songs and he's big admirer of Bob Marley so he is just singing a song that he belives on, doesn't mean he also smokes weed. |
