| Byzantine – Hatfield Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| It's about breaking away from your families' past, specifically the Hatfield-McCoy feud. The 1882 reference is about the killing of Ellison Hatfield which escalated the whole feud. I'm pretty sure the McCoy's are from Kentucky. | |
| In Flames – A New Dawn Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| It's not "Leaving all deaths behind", it is either "Leaving all tears behind" or "Leaving all this behind." | |
| In Flames – Sounds of a Playground Fading Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I would like to make a change to the first verse. You can find all you need The message is in the silence Whisper words to calm your mind Reach inside, numb the pain Come around with answers |

Like nut on your spine - Like a nail in your spine Then try to flaunt 'em - To try and thwart him. And it's "I'm almost famous" at the end of the first verse. |

you were just in his CD's / Left at Infinite - you were dissin' his CD's / Laughed at Infinite You call me the champ - Don't call me the champ let me get a stoic and raise the bar Higher than my opinion of these winners and lords - Let me get historic...my opinion than these women been lowered. As a cold wind blowing - There's a cold wind blowing. I'm sure there's more that are incorrect but I'm tired and you all should just go buy the album which has the lyrics (and a few typos), instead of just downloading it and posting these whack lyrics online. |

| Eminem – Almost Famous Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| These lyrics are wrong. Why don't you buy the album and then read the booklet. ApatheticEnvy has them right, except it is "Someone distorted my mem / ory, so I wrote on a napkin / I do what I have to to win." I'm pretty sure that's correct. I don't have the booklet with me since I'm out at school. But I know all of ApatheticEnvy's other corrections are right. | |
| In Flames – Versus Terminus Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I know this is silly but it will end all arguments for good. From Merriam-Webster Dictionary: Versus Etymology: Middle English, from Medieval Latin, towards, against, from Latin, adverb, so as to face, from past participle of vertere to turn Date: 15th century 1 : against 2 : in contrast to or as the alternative of Terminus Etymology: Latin, boundary marker, limit – more at term Date: circa 1617 1 : a final goal : a finishing point 2 : a post or stone marking a boundary 3 : either end of a transportation line or travel route; also : the station, town, or city at such a place : terminal 4 : an extreme point or element : tip So, it means "against the end." |

| Draco: Versus does indeed mean 'against' in Latin. Why do you think it means that in English? | |
| In Flames – Brush The Dust Away Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| mrjack has the right idea with the "rape your mother line." Yes, In Flames refers to Earth a lot but I think in this case, it's mainly just a way of saying you can easily kill someone and someone else could be doing something to you; something worse could be happening to you: it's an endless cycle. He choose to say "mother" because it rhymes with "another." There seems to be a lot of good interpretations here so I don't need to really add one. It just seems to be about the general direction of society and how we need to "abandon the mass ideal" and get away from what we are doing and "brush the dust away." And MetalHead289, a lot of times using the lyrics to describe the lyrics is helpful. | |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZ6eK1GbFqs&feature=related In this video of a live show he sings "to the hall of the giants" but in another one I did hear "silence" instead. But seeing as in the booklet it is written as "giants" I'm going to say that is the actual lyric since it is more than just a typo (which Colony is full of, obviously). As for the meaning, I think it deals with pretty much a shitty life and how he begs for mercy but it is in vein, he gets no relief. I think the "crawl to the hall of the giants" line is about going through life slowly and painfully and the hall of the giants is the afterlife. Like I said, his life is terrible, but from what? I don't know but I don't think the lyrics really tell of anything specific and because of that it can apply to many more people. It's difficult sometimes to understand what Anders is writing about because in the booklets for The Jester Race, Whoracle, and Colony there really aren't any commas or periods so it's hard to tell where the sentences end. I'm pretty sure it's like this in the other booklets for the other albums but those are easier to read. Thoughts? |

"Lyrical concept and song titles collaborated by: Niklas Sundin and Anders Fridén. Lyrics on "Dead Eternity" by: Jocke Göthberg (Dimension Zero)." That's from their site about The Jester Race. "Lyrics written by: Niclas Sundin following original synopsis by Anders Friden" That's about Whoracle. "All lyrics written by Anders Fridén part translated by Niclas Sundin." And that's Colony. |

| In Flames – Reflect the Storm Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| "Wish I could find a person able to reach deep in me." -- That's what she said. No, but seriously, great interpretation. And I know what you mean. I mask my emotions so much and have done so for so long and continue to do so. I mean, my best friends "eyes reach deep in me" but she doesn't "bring me the calm." As corny as it may be to quote mid-sentence like that, it's still very true. | |
| In Flames – Reflect the Storm Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Yeah, you have a few other things wrong too. And you say you have the "album slip"? It's "pierce the walls", "spend another day", "a dead surface that doesn't", "sneak out before i wake". | |
| In Flames – Metaphor Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The demon is like the one in Square Nothing; "Spent some quality time with the demon of mine / (He said) I like the way you struggle, but you know I'm here to win." That kind of thing. | |
| In Flames – Metaphor Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I think on the surface it's about a relationship with another person who has done these things to the singer. They made the singer feel like sinner, they stole his pure intentions and so on; they made him feel bad in every way. Yet he still wants to help them because he knows that the person is possibly depressed and going through hard times and so he doesn't blame them for doing this to him. Instead, he tries to bury their pain. But since the title is Metaphor and if you take the lyrics to mean what I just wrote, then it doesn't really make any sense for the song to be called that because with this interpretation, there aren't really any metaphors at all. So, I think what most of you think. I think it's about an addiction but I think the 'you' that he is talking to is the demon in himself. I think the first two lines of each verse is the normal side, the good side of him and the "Let me in..." part is the addiction, the demon side. I'm too lazy to go through all the lines, plus I have a ton of homework, but I'll go through one. The "I feel it's taking over..." part I think is just the demon side taking over almost completely now, and he's crying out to anyone to "break me open" to fix him. Also, I agree with 60damen about the instruments contrasting with the lyrics and vocals. To me, it sounds a lot like Metallica's Fade to Black - the end solo - in the sense that it's about dark subject matter but the music is more uplifting and 'happy' in a way. It gives you hope. So, I feel as though the music in this song is of a more 'happy', uplifting sound, especially the violin 'solo' part near the middle. |

| Actually, he sings, "Do you think you can show me, how I've come this far?" | |
| In Flames – Pinball Map Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I like your interpretation a lot but I think you have one thing wrong. "'Pacified by the small things in life I wait for earthquakes to rearrange' He can shake the little things that bother him, but it's the big problems, questions, and difficulties in life that cause him to change." Pacified means to be restored to a state of peace or tranquility; to be calmed. So, it's not that he shakes off the little things that bother him, but rather, the little things in life make him peaceful and calm. And so he just waits for the earthquakes, things that he has absolutely no control over, to make changes, to "rearrange." |

| As I Lay Dying – Song 10 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I really don't feel like arguing because As I Lay Dying aren't up there on my list of favorites. I like them; I like their subject matter because it is about relationships with human beings. | |
| As I Lay Dying – Song 10 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| And I'm to believe that you have talked to them face to face? | |
| As I Lay Dying – Song 10 Lyrics | 16 years ago |

You all say you are big As I Lay Dying fans and you also say that every song they write is about god or jesus (no capitalization on purpose). You all say they are a Christian band but they really aren't. If you were actual fans then you would have gone to their website and looked at the FAQ section. Seriously, you are poseurs. I'm not calling myself a big fan, but at least I take the time to get information so that I won't be ignorant. Go here and read the first FAQ: http://www.asilaydying.com/faqs.html Tim says that the songs are about "life, struggles, mistakes, relationships and other issues that don't fit entirely in the spiritual category." The only Christian thing about the band is how he writes about these things: through his perspective as a Christian. That's all. As for this song, it could be about god and what all of you are saying. But really? God's complaining that people aren't listening to him? What is he, five? It's just about someone who has a lot of feelings for someone else but that person doesn't pay him any attention; "...words just fall near your feet...be heard in your sweet ears just once" He just wants her to know he exists, basically. As you can tell, I'm not religious but that doesn't matter. You can believe what you want to. It's good to believe in something. What matters is all you Christians pushing your faith on everyone and saying all of this is about god. Take the time to educate yourselves and stop being ignorant. |
