3 Doors Down – When I'm Gone Lyrics 15 years ago
Spot on. Couldn't have said it better myself.

3 Doors Down – Life Of My Own Lyrics 15 years ago
This is the kind of song a soldier could have written. His life is not his own, he's under orders, and feels morally obliged to a higher purpose: "Freedom carries sacrifice, remember when this was my life"

Maybe it's just me, and I was a soldier too.

Would be a good song to have blaring from your Personnel Carrier's speakers when making enemy contact. Lock and load.

Nine Inch Nails – Into the Void Lyrics 16 years ago
Everyone's wrong. It's a simple song about getting on a train, the hassle you have when you miss it, and having to mingle with everyone else queuing up waiting for the next one.

Nine Inch Nails – March of the Pigs Lyrics 16 years ago
That's why this song reminds me of some of the case studies of demonic possession mentioned in the book _Hostage_To_The_Devil_ by Fr. Malachi Martin.

And what society is Reznor rebelling against? The USA? Western Civilization? Planet Earth? He is a US citizen, so I can only guess this song's invective is aimed at the US. What part of the US Constitution would he change so "all the pigs" wouldn't be all lined up? Perhaps the First Amendment?

This song is so much rage pointed outward against everyone and no one in particular. So if you're angry in general but you just can't seem to figure out why, then this song is for you.

Nine Inch Nails – The Wretched Lyrics 16 years ago
As usual, Trent uses vivid theological and biblical imagery concerning damnation and his fans personalize it as something else entirely. I think we should take him at his word. The song is a meditation, a reflection of the hopelessness felt in learning there is no hope for you, that you are among the wretched, those destined for damnation. These lyrics are not of unbelief, but anti-belief. The only hope, if such can be called hope, is for the dissolution, the annhilation, of being in the end and the obliteration of all consciousness.

Nine Inch Nails – Non Entity Lyrics 16 years ago
Echoes in my eyes---hmmmm, could be the lingering effects of LSD, or maybe heroin. Or it could be another entity altgother.

Nine Inch Nails – Non Entity Lyrics 16 years ago
It's possible Trent is referring to a past relationship breakup, but I don't think so. I think this is his world view in general that becomes more reinforced with time. The song appears to be about the estrangement he has from earlier belief systems. He exists on the plane of non-belief in his consciousness; this is a song about non-being, hence "Non-Entity." He once believed he humans had souls; this song is about how he doesn't have one. This song is about hopelessness. Trent is struggling with the death of God just as Friedrich Nietzsche. As an anti-dote for Trent's dismal view, he should read "Dark Night of the Soul" by St. John of the Cross.
