Dirty On Purpose – Marfa Lights Lyrics 16 years ago
I submitted these, I saw no other submissions online... after listening to the song more and more I feel the first line is in error. I believe "early" should be "lonely." I'm also unsure of the "Everything else speaks shades of brown" line. It seemed fitting due to the cold weather.

What does the song mean? It seems like a simple little story to me. If you've ever traveled in that part of Texas, it is a rather lonely stretch of America. You aren't going there, just passing through to your next destination. Plenty of time on your hands to write a song.

The Marfa Lights are real and can be found in Marfa, Texas. A poor mans Aurora Borealis.

Millencolin – Bullion Lyrics 16 years ago
Bullion stands for gold. Bouillon (note the spelling) stands for beef stock. While possibly unintentional, I've always seen it as the duality of living poor as a youth.

You want Bullion but in the process are forced to eat/drink Bouillon. They are pronounced the same. I know it's a stretch given they are from Sweden and the term Bouillon comes from Louisiana, but that is what is has always meant to me.

Sublime – Hope Lyrics 16 years ago
Sublime, Bradley had the punk/ska scene down to the pat. This is easily the better of their punk songs. What is the meaning of it though? After thinking about it, most of Sublimes song tend to deal with a female. I'm betting he was a conflicted with being in a relationship with a woman on more than one occasion. Perhaps it stemmed from his childhood, I don't know.

It's a simple song, like most punk songs, it's about a woman. Jessie's Girl for the punks.

Sublime – Same In The End Lyrics 16 years ago
It may seem simple, but I think the title gives it away. No matter what happens, it's all same in the end.

The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil Lyrics 16 years ago
J.J. in 2002 posted about not knowing what the meaning of the Troubadour's line was... It interested me, so I looked it up. I've found nothing of any real interest... but one thing I do know is this.

The Rolling Stones did a lot of drugs. Something tells me the meaning of the lyric only had meaning to Mick at the time it was written and no longer has any meaning, other than to confuse. He may have also gotten his history confused, it's not like they had Wikipedia back then.

Toots And The Maytals – Pressure Drop Lyrics 16 years ago
Yes, but when the song was recorded(1969), he was not as well to do as he is today. Of course he's happy today. He's considered one of the kings of Reggae.

All one need do is look at the history of Jamaica during this time to understand the lyrics. Other songs by Toots and the Maytals reflect a similar sentiment.

As for party song... sure, why not? I could get down with this.
