Marfa Lights Lyrics

Doesn't matter started lonely

When you've seen the lights you'll know

Stood back now but lost directions

Might as well stay on the road
(You've gone too far)

And we drove, all night, with the heater on

It was cold, but the sky, was clear

And we drove, all night, till moon the was gone

It was cold, but the end, was near

Marfa lights stay more in focus now

Everything else speak shades of brown

Stood back now and lost correction

Might as well stay on the road
(You've gone too far)

I submitted these, I saw no other submissions online... after listening to the song more and more I feel the first line is in error. I believe "early" should be "lonely." I'm also unsure of the "Everything else speaks shades of brown" line. It seemed fitting due to the cold weather.

What does the song mean? It seems like a simple little story to me. If you've ever traveled in that part of Texas, it is a rather lonely stretch of America. You aren't going there, just passing through to your next destination. Plenty of time on your hands to write a song.

The Marfa Lights are real and can be found in Marfa, Texas. A poor mans Aurora Borealis.
