@cheergal98 I think the x's at the end symbolize the cycle of this couple. He probably "abducts" her again..and again..and again... I do think It's the cycle of her being vulnerable and letting herself be abducted..quite a vicious cycle, really. |

maybe it's a metaphorical suicide..he kept making mistakes and destroyed everything good going for him, feels he's got nothing left to live for because he screwed up so bad..
"hung ..on the wall"..like a picture..in literature hangings on the wall mean an absence of someone, especially a portrait..he hung himself on the wall meaning that's all that's left of him..because he set his expectations too high for himself like you said, he essentially isn't there anymore..he's killed himself in the sense that everything he used to be is gone. the person she knew him as and as he knew himself as is gone.
and "where he used to live" isn't the place he used to live because the person he used to be, the world he lived in and knew it as, is different. he's changed.
the holes in his sleeve..i agree, but i think it's more like he shut everyone out and always kept to himself, never fully exposed himself to anyone, never wanted to feel vulnerable, never let himself completely feel. so he lived in his own little world and never let anyone get too close to him or his thoughts and feelings.
part of my interpretation is partial to it not being a suicide..and that reference to Ben in the other song is interesting, not sure what it means exactly..i just know that you’d rather run is probably my favorite.

I pretty much agree with this. I don't think it was their honeymoon, I think the girl saw herself as his wife, she wanted to marry him, but like you said, their relationship ended in violence and she tried to leave. They might have both been religious and when you put so much faith in someone, you think it's what God wants for you. She probably thought this guy was the one and thanked God for putting him in her life. So when he beat her, she lost her faith. She probably thought God couldn't be present in a relationship like that. |

Well, Ida is a peak, of central Crete. It is the highest elevation on the island and in ancient times was closely associated with the worship of Zeus. (according to dictionary.com)
So when you think of a peak, you think of a zenith, something that is at its highest state/point. And apparently when you're at your highest state of fulfillment, having a family is what makes you fulfilled, like enjoyyourroots said. Or back in those ancient greek times, Zeus was the god of weather and the sky, so when you think of weather and spring, you think of birth. And since apparently Greece was dry, they prayed to Zeus for rain, and with rain or water, you think of comething being reborn or born, etc.
I pretty much stretched that Ida thing as far as I could to draw a correlation to the song. Make any sense? I really can't think of anything else and I could be totally off!
Also, I feel like the song is saying he wants to get away from everyday life and find new life in his child to have a simpler life, because children's lives are so simple and he misses that. And he is wondering why that seems to be the only way of escape. |

I didn't realize you could reply to a specific person like this. I'm a noob.
Anyway dude you are my mind. haha I was going to add to the part where he says he loves her and means it this time, meaning he's tried to before and couldn't and that he hopes he means it. He's saying he still doesn't know if he is meaning what he's saying or thinking, he just hopes it's love, real love because he wants it so bad.
But I'm not sure. Just what I think he means.
It's weird I feel like I was in a relationship just like this song.
