I really like how simple this song is, I love Brian's more cryptic lyrics but I love this song too because it's so cute ^^ I agree with dressedinleather, it seems like a best friend you idolise in school or something. Like when you're a teenager you tend to feel more insecure and tend to idolise people you love, and the way there's not many metaphors or anything makes it seem like a young person whose singing. |

Reminds me of Fight Club, in a way :) Like the best thing in their life in getting beaten up because they were "born to lose" "Trying to be ruthless, in the face of beauty" and in the book, there's a part where the narrator says how he wants to destroy all the beauty he'd never see. Also the "It's either you or me"...Probably just beacuse I'm a massive fan of the book and the film. I like what people were saying about people getting beaten for the way they dress/look though, that makes sense. Like how people see beauty so bluntly, it's either this or that, you or me. |

Makes me think of a guy living on the outskirts of life. He had problems with alcohol/drugs/gambling in the past, and never had someone so the thought of a other people in his life seems quite daunting. ("I'm faithless... I'm scared") The only way he can feel happiness is by "peeping" at other's people's lives. Because he's hit bottom he can't do any worse, but he's to afraid to try and fix himself in case he crashes again, so he just lives this half life of watching other people. Just my two cents, I love Placebo though :D |

Placebo songs always make me play a little film in my head. I don't know what the actual meaning is, but it makes me think of someone who was in love with someone who was addicted to drugs, and was really worried about her but never could help her. She could have convinced him to try drugs once or twice "vacuum cleaner eyes, sucks you in" but he doesn't want to live his life that way and want her to come clean. The girl seems really insecure anyway "She wears the tears on her blouse, confused and racked with self-doubt" which is perhaps why she started doing drugs, and maybe she doesn't feel like she deserves to be loved. The guy feels guilty because he doesn't know how to help her and the girl is unable to help herself. "She stole the keys to my house and then she locked herself out" Makes me think the girl tried to get herself out of the guy's life because she knows he worries about her but she can't stop being the way she is. The end seems like the girl's finally convinced him to let her go, as if she's laying him down to sleep/rest or something. In any case, a very beautiful song. Enchants me. |

One of my favorites by her. To me, it's about a girl who really loves someone but they don't feel the same way. She knows they don't feel the same but can't help loving them. "I can be graceful and try not to step on my train" just makes me think of a metaphorical wedding train, she's pouring out her heart to this person but doesn't want to make a fool of herself. This song basically explains how she knows that the one she loves doesn't return her feelings, but she can't help the way she feels. And she just loves them so much. |
