| Pist.on – Down and Out Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Fantastic song that first got me into Pist.On. I think it is generally the bitter musings of someone that is, as the title suggests, Down & Out. His mental state suggests the he is becoming boredline psycopathic, what with "Shots from a tower" and the superb lyric "How would this blade taste as part of your shadow" indicate. |

It's about incest, specifically a Father and Daughter that have an un-natural attraction to each other. I believe that the greek myth about Elektra follows a similar plot, hence the title. Strange and disturbing topic, but a really great song by a criminally overlooked band. |

| Remy Zero – Glorious #1 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I took it as a song about ending a relationship, hence back down to the Glorious #1. I think Knolly may have something with the imagery which makes it sound like a murder and getaway type scenario, but I think it's more of a metaphor for killing off the relationship and getting away to being single again rather than a literal story. | |
| Paul Westerberg – Love Untold Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| jenseda is spot on about this song. As much an aknowledgement of the "perfection" of those imagined relationships that never came to be as being just as imagined as the scenario itself, as it is a beatuiful description of unrequited love and of course the rituals of the dating game. | |
| Paul Westerberg – Knockin' On Mine Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
A great defence of an unconventional worldview. If all you do is learn and listen to the same stuff as everyone else, then what makes you any different from anyone else? I love the line that "knowledge adds, wisdom let's slide" very true. For some reason Paul Westerberg despite clearly having a very sharp intellect, great creative talent and the ability to articulate his thoughts and feelings in original and yet instinctively understandable ways, seems to often defend the concept of being "dumd" or at least unschooled. |

| Paul Westerberg – Lookin' Out Forever Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Sounds like a man yearning for a lost love that is in someone else's arms now. Some of the imagery about being called across the river and going home makes me think he might be about to commit suicide. Either way a great song and more people than would freely admit it are probably looking out forever for someone they lost in th past. |

| Paul Westerberg – It's a Wonderful Lie Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Another great Paul Westerberg lyric, seems generally to be about the state of denial that we allow ourselves and others to live in with those little white lies we all love so much. He crams more great lines into one song here than many artists manage in their entire careers "You can dress to the eights, you can dress to maim, it'll make you feel great this fotune and fame, wearing too much make-up and not near enough clothes" and "Don't pin your hopes, pin your dreams, to misanthropes, guys like me" are particularly wonderful. |

| Face to Face – In Harm's Way Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Totally awesome song, can't believe nobody else has commented on it up till now. Sounds like it's about a failed relationship or perhaps an abortive attempt at a relationship that never got off the ground because he waited to long to make his move. The chorus sends a shiver down my spine every time I hear it "I feel like I might break, on this ordinary day" I think we've all been there at some point! |

| Face to Face – Disappointed Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Once again I think this song is pretty much autobiographical and about the band itself. The album "Reactionary" has always sounded very angry and bitter to me (the title meaning backwards looking should have been a hint), it was like "Ignorance Is Bliss" is the type of record the band always wanted to make and they were really proud of it and then they got dumped on for it by a lot of their fans and their label, etc. and were almost forced to return to a more conventional punk rock sound in order to salvage their career and they resented it. Disappointment's what you've made this, my ambitions so deflated sounds like Trever saying a big screw you to the more reactionary members of his fanbase to me. |

| Face to Face – Anybody Listening Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I get the impression that this was written out of frustration at the band's inability to grow any bigger. It was written not long before they split (for the first time) and Trever just sounds like he was pissed off at putting his heart and soul into his music and yet nobody seemed to be listening to a word he said. | |
