The Strokes – Chances Lyrics 12 years ago
I think it's about a wife/girlfriend cheating. The husband/boyfriend suspects this, but doesn't confront her. He finds evidence of her plans to cheat and follows her sometimes to confirm what he already knew. It's not a surprise, but it still hurts like it is. So, he starts cheating, too.

RA – Ecstacy Lyrics 12 years ago
Quite simply, the song is about obsession. It might even be about stalking someone. Incredibly catchy, in any case.

Also, if anyone looks at this that has the power/knowhow, can you remove the other lyrics for this song I submitted? I got an error when I first tried to submit the lyrics, so I didn't think it sent and tried again. Thanks.

Editors – Lullaby Lyrics 13 years ago
In case anyone didn't know, this is a cover of a song originally done by "The Cure". They had a lot of great songs. I think I prefer this version, but they're both great.

Good find. Aside from that, I think you're a good bit off on some of the christian references. Obviously, 666 is referencing the devil. After that, you're misinformed. God took 6 days to create the heavens and earth. He rested on the 7th day. Regardless, 7 is a divine number. As for numerological meanings, I'd look into the jewish numerology. Sorry, I forget what it's called, but it could shed some light on your ideas.

I almost forgot, you're also wrong about Paradise Lost. Dante's Inferno speaks of 9 circles of Hell. Here's a link to the idea behind 7 Heavens: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Heavens

Japanese Cartoon – Gasp Lyrics 15 years ago
Lupe Fiasco: "'GASP' was about how we live lives of privilege. You look at China and there are a million millionaires, there's all this great advancement, and all these skyscrapers, but it's built on the backs of hundreds of millions of poor people. And that's magnified all over the world. You look at the opulence of the few who sit at the top. But then you look at the bottom and it's just massive poverty. For some people it's surprising and when you're surprised, you gasp. And that song is about looking at how everything that you have is made on the backs of the exploited, the oppressed, the slaves, the little kids that make 10 cents a week. Life needs gasps. You need those moments of awakening."

He went on to say that this song is the one that sets the bar for any future works by the band. You can read the lyrics and the quotes in the description of this video of the song(where I got them): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlPB5knYFik

So, I guess that's that. Great song, though. The second verse is amazingly good. I hope they continue on and make more music. I think they could be really good if Lupe stops trying to sound British, as this song shows.

Staind – Blow Away Lyrics 16 years ago
This is a song about loss. At some point in life, all you can count on is losing people. I'm not surprised no one else has really felt that as of yet. I've had loss my entire life. When you start to get older, though, you have nothing to gain and everything to lose. You'll lose your parents, friends, partner, and anyone else. Age does harsh things to your views on the world. As a child when people started leaving, I became accustomed to it and have been decidedly singular and separate from anyone else ever since. Sure, I take it personally, but it's why you don't want to see your reflection anymore. You see all the pain and loss added upon itself to disfigure you and your emotional state. It becomes easier to stop caring about anyone but yourself. You sink or swim because you want to, but everyone wants someone else to understand and be part of their life. When you lose their caring in relation to yourself, you lose your own. That's the basic genesis of this song.

For the most part, you're looking at someone who wants to die because they have nothing to live for. Somehow, he never loses hope that he will gain a reason to live, though. When you lose everything but yourself and no one is there to understand, what is there to live for? A hope that someone will pick up that book no one else wants to read.

Cold – Just Got Wicked Lyrics 16 years ago
Personally, I don't think this song is about betrayal, per se. I think it's about growing up. The first two lines signify the earliest of childhood and the third line shows how things seem to be frozen into what your childhood self thought and felt about things. Then, everyone changes and "gets wicked". Your world is upside down and twisted. It's more the puberty stage of things and the whole world is chaos. You can't explain it or really say how you feel, but the world you loved and knew is gone.

Overall, it's a reminiscent song about your childhood and how you can never find those same feelings and ideas again, no matter how hard you look.
