| Company of Thieves – After Thought Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think this song is about looking back on a specific situation or a time period and realizing the time you wasted worrying about things or fearing things that would turn out not to matter in the end. It’s about the realization that you’re in control of your own life and that you should appreciate it, not fear it, not let others dictate it or depreciate the value of your life with their own fears, anxieties or expectations. | |
| Now, Now Every Children – Jesus Camp Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Could be wrong, but I think the line is: and the warning it was right** on your skin, but you were light could be relevant to her grandfather's death. Perhaps the color/lightness of skin was a sign of what caused his death (likely a disease of some sort). |

think it's: I am the shy one; I don’t have to say very much to get what I want. But it doesn't mean a thing if you tell everyone** |

| Now, Now Every Children – Giants Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
i agree with you. i was thinking along the same lines. also sounds a little like the speaker is possibly atheist and being sort of critical of the other person's religious beliefs (possibly christian?) in general. lines like "your framework doesn't hold" and "you're singing to the sun" sounds kind of like they're saying "your beliefs are illogical/they don't hold up" and "you're praying to nothing/praying in vain" |

| Now, Now Every Children – Colony Lyrics | 13 years ago |

think it's "killed the colony" and the missing line is "A looser grip" |
|

In the third verse, I hear: But they will overlap And cast a shadow on what little is left |
|
| Now, Now Every Children – The Pull Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I always heard "to form the fabric of a fragile home" also, i'm sure it's just a typo but "A month apart" instead of "as" |

I've been gone for much too long (x4) before and after the last verse |
|
| Tegan and Sara – Come On Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| the version of this song with different lyrics than these (which is also like a full minute longer, and much better in my opinion) is from Under Feet Like Ours, their first studio album. | |
| The Cinema – Picasso Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
"I was actually getting really into reading this Hunter S Thompson book one time while I was out in Atlanta recording vocals. At some point in the book I came across him talking about fur coats. So immediately in my mind the line, "It's fur coats and fashion" came out. This was actually the very first song Matt played one late night in the studio. I thought it had such a unique vibe to it when the chorus hits. So I decided to add claps to the beginning of the song one night. For whatever reason it just kind of stuck and we left it on." - Leighton (propertyofzack.com) So I guess it's actually "It's fur coats and fashion" it won't let me edit the lyrics right now, but I'll change it later. |

| HAHBASSIST, that was my first take on the song as well. It does seem to fit. But who knows. | |

| You stare in a way I once thought was stunning.** (according to the tour poster) | |
| Lydia – A Place Near the City Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Hollywood never looked so great, but I will be leaving before you start sleeping. Now that my face is frozen with expressions I've chosen and I'm nowhere close to my own city. But it was all night at parties and now we are starving but I'm still nowhere near the city. So, I try to keep sane, but this goddamn place is a freeway. And I will not make it to see your face. Too much shit at your work place, so you start to vacate to a place near the city where you make up your problems and tell me to solve them, but I spent my time sleeping, yeah. What is your point, lover? Let's see what we can uncover. It seems to me that when I quit, it all just ended. Simply put, you were quite offended. I try to keep sane, but this goddamn place is a freeway. And I will not make it to see your face, 'Cause whatever happens, it's supposed to be. Whatever happened, there's nothing I could do. |

| Lydia – A Camera Lens and Careful Days Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think the lyric might be "Well cover up girl, we finally begin" instead of "we'll finally leave again". It's strange that I'm just now realizing this after having listened to the song millions of times over the past few years. But I definitely hear that. Anyone else? | |
| Lydia – A Camera Lens and Careful Days Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Go to one of their July/August shows. they'll be selling physical copies of "This December", "Illuminate" and "Assailants". | |
| Isles and Glaciers – Viola Lion Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
In an altpress interview,(http://www.altpress.com/features/entry/track-by-track_isles_glaciers) they say that Brian Southall wrote the majority of this song (musically) and that Vic did the melodies for the song. So I'm not sure who the lyrics came from, but I think the chorus says "beautiful lights". If you listen close, you can definitely hear a 'T' sound. I thought it was "lies" originally too, but "lights" makes more sense with 'diamonds in the sky', anyway. Anyway, this song is great. I think it's the best on the album, mostly because all three of them just kill the vocals. I was a bit concerned about the group having three vocalists, and whether or not they would find a way to mix all three into the blend in a way that didn't come out sounding choppy or awkward, like you can (sort of) feel in a couple other songs. But with this song, I think they did an outstanding job keeping all the vocals and melodies at an even flow with the rest of the song. Amazing track. |

| Birds Fled From Me – The Resisted Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Please don't stand like that, my eyes ache in your direction. And when you are close my hands tremble to touch. You said "Here, put your arm on my shoulder," and you carried me down from that great, great height. And oh, I resisted. How I resisted. I should've kissed you when I had the chance. But I dug my heals so deep, you could see me shaking, yeah. I forget to breathe. I am scared in the air around you. I feel guilty for how much I crave. Oh no, I know what this is. This is one of those sick obsessions, that has me closing my eyes so I can dream. And oh, I resisted. Believe me, I resisted. You should have left me where you found me on that great big rock, so I could wait it out. Run my fingers on a glass lip. And oh, how these things are all filled with you now. And you are completely oblivious, or at least that's what I'll tell myself because I know, because I know. And oh, I resisted. Believe me, I resisted. I should've kissed you when I had the chance. But I dug my heals so deep, you could see me shaking. Kissed you when I had the chance. Wait it out, wait it out again. You should have left me where you found me, because you're moving on, moving on again. |

| Emarosa – Broken vs the Way We Were Born Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| i think it may be "'cause second chances are better denied". | |
| Emarosa – We Are Life Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| awesome, thanks for the help. | |
| Lydia – Empty Out Your Stomach Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| also, i think it might be "My body is sick, yet it never stops breathing." ("yet" instead of "yeah") | |
| Lydia – We Clean Up So Well Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Yeah, I agree. A few lines became a lot clearer in the mastered version. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Made the changes. | |
| Lydia – Empty Out Your Stomach Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| as much as i like the line "I lost my mouth, can you speak for me?", i think i hear "I lost my mind in this make believe." | |
| Lydia – We Clean Up So Well Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I can sort of hear "It's all in the photography, and the BODIES." instead of "parties", but i'm not sure. anyone else hear that? | |
| Lydia – We Clean Up So Well Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Oh, thanks. I can hear that now. There were a few lines I was a little caught on. It can be difficult to hear the endings of some of his lines, the way he sort of drifts off when singing them. Thanks though, I appreciate the suggestions. | |
| Lydia – We Clean Up So Well Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| ahh, good call. i can definitely hear that. thank you! | |
| Lydia – We Clean Up So Well Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I came up with these lyrics by ear, just from listening a few times through. So, corrections and suggestions are welcome. But yes! I agree, there are so many themes and ideas that you see showing up throughout both of their previous albums. I was reminded of their previous photography and picture references too. Can't wait to see what the rest of this coming album brings. |

| Lydia – Stay Awake Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| also, in an interview with Leighton (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugjuJomJosI)he says at the end, that the line is "You see in way too much safety." | |
| Lydia – Stay Awake Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Anyone else think it may be "i promise, i promise, i'm wholly lonely." instead of "i'm holy, lonely." I just can't see "holy" fitting in. Lydia's never expressed any religion that I've noticed. | |
| Isles and Glaciers – Cemetery Weather Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| i can hear "violent delight" instead of "violence and light". possible? | |
| Lydia – A Camera Lens and Careful Days Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
it's always blue and black or breaking skin. well cover up girl, we'll finally leave again. you breathe me in so well. in your room under the cover of this night, we are safe. we are, as long as you whisper. but my eye was caught by your picture, that's hanging from your mirror like something you forgot. we'll say we couldn't sleep, just staring at the clock. when numbers seem to blur, and reflection is lost, well anything is love, as you stare into your box. so now we're used to the rain. we can swim and i'll say we were never worried. because the floods will only bring the coast and the atlantic closer. i thought i told you girl, i thought that i showed you the reason that i all i truly want is to get in your head, and steal your imagery so we can both go to your second story house. you would never believe this snow. it gets so heavy on our lungs. it's been creeping up your walls and closing down the roads. i swear i'm loving while, i swear i'll still hide, i'll hide away from the cold. "i think that for me, every day would be the last day of summer, and i'd be left out in the cold, with no place to go.. because there are very few people that i can relate to every again in my life, ever to... understand me, because i've gone places where very few people ever go. i mean, i played the ultimate gamble. i gambled my life." "you're fine. go back to work and we'll let you know when she comes." i swear we're almost there and we'll be safe inside. down those stairs to your room where i could stay for days. the substance is over us. please don't do this, no. 'cause this may never change! oh, i'm still here, here. so they say. -------------------------------------- the dialogue is an excerpt from a george jung interview about the movie "blow". here's a video of the clip used in the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5aCeEyIikY beautiful lyrics. easily my favorite lydia song. |
