"that little faggot got his own jet airplane..."?? They are referring to Prince. "The little fagot with the earing and the makeup, Yeah buddy that's his own hair." Is Boy George. |

Actually Knopfler said that he was listening to two guys in a hardware warehouse store, and that is how he got the lyrics. |

Here is what Wikipedia says about the song “Athena.” Pete Townshend wrote this song after an encounter with actress Theresa Russell. He promptly fell in love with her, and his frustration of being rejected is contained in this song. In this context, associated with an issue with a film director, it became a subplot of the much later The Lifehouse Chronicles. Townshend initially changed the title to "Athena" to disguise who the song was really about. It is this last line that holds the key to finding out the truth. Actually Townshend recorded the song "Theresa" as a demo to disguise what the song "Athena" is really about, and to protect his publishing rights. The truth is that the song “Athena” is written about my poster “Athena.” The poster has the picture of an atomic mushroom cloud on it. When the poster is held upside down the photo reminds me of a woman’s wedding dress. That is why the lyrics go “She’s just a girl, She’s a bomb.” This true story is what Pete Townshend’s psychoderelict CD is based on. |

| David Gilmour – You Know I'm Right Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This song was written about my September 1983 trip to England in order to talk with Pete Townshend. About the song "Athena" performed by the Who being written about my poster "Athena." Two days after my meeting with Townshend, I spent a 2 hour plus bus ride from Bristol to London's Gatwick airport, on the same bus with David Gilmour, Paul and Linda McCartney. I know that I am right about The Who performing the song "Athena" about my poster, unfortunately the public does not. These lines were written about what transpired on the bus ride. "Now we survey this silent battleground Recriminations all around And still no compromise is found" The next two lines are asking me the question, why did I need to fly to England in to talk with Townshend knowing that I was right? Because nobody would believe me! "Why should you bother with the other side When you know yours is right." |

| David Gilmour – Murder Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This song was written about John Lennon's murder. The weapon used in the song was changed from a gun to a knife. Otherwise the song would have started to sound a little to much like the scene in the Godfather. Michael kills the two guys in the restaurant and throws down the gun. Other than that it draws a fairly accurate portrayal of the night John Lennon was assasinated. |
