Joe Purdy – Easier Lyrics 16 years ago
This and Blue In the Sky are the songs that got me interested in Joe's music. This is the perfect song, in my opinion, and the reason Joe is the best!

Joe Purdy – Blue in the sky Lyrics 16 years ago
I don't have much of a thought on the entire song, but the line "I can see blue in the sky when it's raining" brings the idea of seeing the good when everything seems bad or rough, light at the end of the tunnel sorta thing. And the couples dancing in the rain and kissing in the streets is sort of the same thing, it's raining which brings about a gloomy atmosphere, but they're taking advantage of it and making it something beautiful. Deffinitely one of my favorite songs by Joe.

Joe Purdy – Can't Get It Right Today Lyrics 16 years ago
I have to agree with TehGreatMutato and lmk3087. I never thought of it this way, but the song does seem too hint at a man deep in depression trying to become the man he once was. "I dropped my paintbrush in the dirt" hits me the most too, being an artist as well. I think however it could mean that, not being the person he used to be, he can't find the joy or peace or closure he used to feel when painting, and it hurts that much more knowing that this sensation is gone, "Still remember just how much that hurt". And the line where he claims he cuts his hand reminds me of Johnny Cash's Hurt, he's cutting himself not to end his life, but to see if he can still feel pain like he used to, but in his depressed state he feels nothing, or the pain is nulled or different in some way, and he "just can't bring him back". This song is much more profound to me now, knowing this interpretation. I never listened to it all that much but I think it's taken on a whole new meaning to me, and I can enjoy it more than I used to.
